Is there much point in having a screen with that large a resolution - High def stuff wont look very good on it as it wont be in native res

Would advise anyone considering an upgrade who is also a gamer to do a lot of homework as:

1: Even the Dell 2405 struggles to run games @ 1900x1200 unless you have a 512GTX, SLI or X1800.

2: 2405 has blurring issues with scaling @ non native resolutions.

3: DVD's do not look great upscaled to 1900x1200 so would even look worse on the 3007.

Better to go for a 32" LCD TV which also has a PC DVI or VGA input.

The upscaling for DVD is a lot of rubbish.

If you've a 30" screen you SHOULD be sitting far enough back to not notice a thing when it comes to scaling.

If you that fussy, then you can use something like FFDshow or something to do it properly.

Anyway! More to the point does anyone know of a "cheap" AGP card that would drive this. I dont really want to have to upgrade practically the entire PC for PCI Express ! (or pay in arms and legs for a mega top end GFX card).

Cheers

X1300??

Thats one ive never heard of.

Any extra information on that would be much appreciated.

At the moment im running a 9800Pro, and would be delighted with approximately 6600 GT performance. Although I would prefer an NVidia card, but think a 7800GT is ridiculously out of my league as I dont play games anymore.

Yeah I was ready to buy this instead of a 32" HiDef TV until I realised there was only one input - and I have also gone off the idea of the Dell Tv's on OCUK also because they just look too ugly ( especially with the speakers - not sure if they are detachable)

Looks like I will be getting a 32 " Sammy HDTV and another GT for SLI goodness.

It also struck me that the resolution might be too high even for HiDef TV and dvd's etc, ie scaling down wouldnt do HiDef sources any justice and you would need a serious beast of a vga card(s) to get this monitor working in natural res in games

Will also be interested in pics and review though

the x1300 does look a little under powered.

Unfortunatly I know Zero about the quadros' in terms of thier equivalent normal chipset.

How do the following fair? :-

FX500 128MB 8xAGP
Quadro 4 750 XGL 128mb AGP
PNY QUADRO FX1000 128mb

As long as its the same as a 9800Pro or faster Im happy !

man, 52% more screen size than the 2405FPW! that truly is a monster, my 2405FPW seems small now! lol

looking forward to pics and opinions! :)

scoured the net and found a few pictures for you :)

nice!...

If I just keep reminding myself how big the 2405 is I can avoid having to buy this screen!

TBH I think any non-HDTV owning 2405 user could spend the money better elsewhere.

******* a!!! I like the Coke Can for comparison. Must resist temptation to spend......

But like a lot of others have said I think I'd rather have a nice TV in thel ounge over this thing for my Office/Study.
