The official Dell Ultrasharp 2408WFP Thread

I see I'm reading page twenty five of this heartrending tale of disappointment, pain and suffering. I'm thinking of reporting Dell to the NSPCC. Let's end the suffering, let's make it stop...NOW!

;):p:D

The input lag is reduced in the new revision. I'm not even waiting for the lag reduction, just the adjustability of sharpness.

Like several others no doubt, I've been monitoring this thread for months now with great interest regarding the new firmware revision on the 2408WFP.

I've been searching around on the web for ages for some hard data regarding the input lag on the new A01 revision (or whatever nomenclature Dell are or aren't using). I know the only way to tell is the sharpness increments (10 and not 25 ).

The only data I've been able to find thus far was posted by a member of the Dell Community forums.

This member claimed a mean average input lag of around 45ms. It's better than the A00, but still not great.

I would like to see some indepedent, verified testing (it would be nice if TFT central could get their hands on the new revision and put it through its paces).

However, I think I'll end up going for the HP LP2475W. The testing at TFT central stated the HP has an average lag of 25ms. I am also bored of waiting for the Dell .

I called Dell and a really helpful chap in Glasgow has said once the revised models are available brand new they'll swap it out for me. A result really as I didn't really want to be without, or take the risk of buying something else that I wouldn't be so happy with. I also didn't want the hassle of sending it back for a refund, being without a screen again and losing money on postage etc. The timeline given was around two weeks.

I'll keep you all posted.

I Ordered mine saturday from OCuk, gutted if theres gonna be probs with it...Naughty Oc for claiming it has latest revision/firmware if it doesn't...
I'm going to try to be objective and not just decide it's got probs before iv'e even opened the box..

i will be waiting with bated breath for your report on the firmware.

It's arrived Firmware a00, model 0G286H, Dated july 08..
Switched on very quickly just to check for faults..
No dead Pixels, no backlight bleed (very surprised)
Hmmm there is input lag, I didn't think it was too bad but obviously now im focussed on looking for it...
I get back to you with the rest of the info once Iv'e linked to the new pc i'm building..

sharpness increments at 25 or 10?

I was going to give some more info on my new 2408 but whilst installing my mobo drivers tonight on a new install the screen died!

I'm now sitting with a half finished pc and a dead screen..
Cant believe my luck..

It just wont turn on, its completely dead Ive even tried a new fuse in the plug...I did notice the back of the screen is warm but not what I would call overheating.

Do I contact OCuk or dell directly? Happy for any advice...
Absolutely gutted..
