I just made another short video..

Input Lag Example - Dell 2408WFP vs ViewSonic 2030b:-

Wow, that is really noticeable! And that's rather a major flaw in the product. Quite disappointing, I'd like to think Dell would be quite fast to pick up on this and get it fixed as soon as possible before many more units are made. Shame because I was hoping to pick one of these up in the summer. Fingers crossed this problem will be fixed by then!

Very interesting to see, thanks very much.

Would it be possible for you to use this same format on say an FPS Game for us please? Counterstrike, COD or Crysis maybe?

CoD 4 running in clone mode a Dell 2408WFP & ViewSonic VP2030b (couldn't get the game to stretch across both):-

I can't see any lag between the two.

Many thanks again.

So from your vid it seems that there is clearly no input lag in games? Is their a particular reason why there is clearly input lag on the desktop video and none in the game? Or does input lag not affect DirectX Games or does it work in different ways? I am confused.

Anyone with an explanation?

I am still in two minds whether to get this monitor because of the input lag issue I keep hearing of, and from what I have seen from the two vids, I am now further sure/unsure :S

Now that the BenQ's are showing up on overclockers I may now go for the FP241W or the HP 2408H or go for the Dell :S My head hurts from trying to decide :(

I take back what I said.. it is possible to see some lag. Pause that video at random points and you will see that the Dell is ever so slightly behind the ViewSonic

Thx saved almost £450 quid.... Ive lost faith in Dell completly anyhow will just get a cheap TN panel, proberly the Samsung 245B which did everything I really needed it too do.

Gonna read the hardocp thread and see if they noticed that video cos that shows it so clearly.

My only complaint is that certain fonts; mostly ones which are smooth curvest etc; when Black on White/Grey have an odd sorta red/green edge... almost like they're designed to be seen with 3d glasses.
That's Microsoft Clear Type at work - antialiasing the screen text. There's a tuner you can run (clicky) which may improve things. If not, you can always just switch it off and go back to jagged text.

As for lag, I thought I had it really bad at first - the pointer felt like it was about 250ms behind the mouse movement! I had a Pantone Huey Pro calibration thing plugged into the monitor's USB port along with a bluetooth dongle. As soon as I unplugged the Huey, all was fine again.

I've made this video to prove the input lag once and for all..

Your input lags weirdly lower than anyone else has suggested. About 40ms in most cases ? (Adding to that ~35ms for your other LCD screen), really odd when people have been measuring 60ms. Any chance you can try another clock?

If someone posts a link to a good one, i'll try it.

Aren't other people measuring against CRTs though (which don't really have any lag)? Mine is probably 60ms against a CRT..

Thats why i added 35ms, because thats (supposedly) the input lag of your other monitor. So still seems oddly low, unless that input lag figures miles off.

I may be way off here, but I just noticed something looking at this picture - this is only to 2 decimal places, so the difference of 3 you are seeing here is not 3 milliseconds, it's 30 milliseconds. You need a clock program that goes to 3 decimal places. This also explains why most people in that other thread are talking about 60 ms lag, it all adds up correctly - 32-35 ms for the VP2030b (versus a CRT) then another 30 ms.

Got to remember though that not everyone noticed the 60-70 ms lag on the 215T, so I don't think everyone should be put off. Depends on intended use and sensitivity of user. Me personally I couldn't live with the idea that my screen is 4 frames behind the game (versus 1 behind on my 2007WFP), but I do play quick games where reactions matter.

Nahema, have you noticed any of this input lag that seems to be plaguing many people with one?

OK, used virtual stopwatch.
Dell 19inch CRT displays 38 seconds 241 milliseconds
Dell 2408 displays 38 seconds 159 milliseconds

Both screens are set to 1280 because of clone mode and the CRT is running at 85hz.

I think I have light bleed on mine. The left hand side of the monitor is lighter than the rest of the screen, particularly the bottom left when viewing the blue of the OC forums. During POST the the screen is a uniform black. What is the best way to test for light bleed.
