The official Dell Ultrasharp 2408WFP Thread

I had a 2407 with a knackered power button that broke after about 2 months, finally got round to calling Dell the other night a year on and they sent me a 2408 to replace it. Worth giving them a call.
 
i dont know if anyone's still interested with this, due to the arrival of the Hazros that are coming in at overclockers, but i got a new Dell 2408WFP sent as a replacement yesterday, which says A01 on the back, and also has the sharpness in increments of 10...
 
Please please do an input lag test!!! I have been refreshing this forum about 20 times a day in regards to this! I am still so undecided about the 2408 a01 or the Hazro.

What a tease! We all want to know what the input lag is like now!
 
Majik is it still model "CX268" this is part of the serial number CZ-xCX268xxx there's been some confusion as the whether it would be a new revision or a new model, looks like a new REV then! we're just about to order 2 x 24" waiting to see what the 2408WFP=A01 is like otherwise it's the Hazro Wi although there are a fwe issues cropping up on the Hazro thread.

Input lag test please!

Reading the Hazro thread this could be the answer to the Ultimate 24" .... could it be?
 
hi guys, sorry for the delay in replying, work and all.

this was an exchange as my old one was slightly faulty, so i kept the box of my previous monitor, the new one was just dropped off by courier, packaged in bubble-wrap, so i cant tell you what should and shouldnt be on the box.
the serial number on the back of the monitor is still part CX268, but underneath the barcode it says A01 now, so i'm assuming its a refurb with the new firmware revision as opposed to a whole new product. still much confusion tho, cos i was told it would be a brand new factory piece when i got it (the original monitor was only two days before i had to ring for an exchange, so i woulda assumed i got a brand new instead of a refurb).

to everyone else regarding input lags, i have no idea how to do this, i'm currently running the 2408WFP alongside an old Philips 19" LCD (i think its a 190B model, but not 100%)
if anyone can give me instructions on how to do what, i'll try set it up and post pics tomorrow sometime

heres a question once we have all our input lag woes sorted, does anyone know if its possible to get a carry case for the screen part of the monitor (the stand i can carry separately)? i work as a photographer and i want to start taking the screen to shoots with me, tethered from a laptop. just something padded in the size of a 24" screen would do nicely....

You need a CRT to test input lag really.
 
I've got a A00 but I'm coming from a 6+ Year old 18" Sony (4*3) and errr it's miles better!

Still got both of them setup though! Will be handy for emails on the other screen.
 
thought i should give you guys a little proof that it is the A01...

I remember seeing a member of staff from Dell stating that new units would remain labelled as A00 for some silly reason, so although yours may technically be an A00, it has had the firmware update (making it effectively an A01 - if that makes any sense! :p).

Edit: The quote from the member of staff at Dell: Due to a Dell internal process change many of the 2408's that will ship new with the revised firmware will have a different part number and not a different revision number. The only way you will be able to tell if it's the revised firmware is to check the sharpness setting, if the setting is in multiples of 10 then it is the revised firmware if it's in multiples of 25 then it's not. The part number has nothing to do with the revision but someone decided since we are changing the part number anyway the firmware will be A00 on that part number."
