They went bankrupt didnt they? Both Jowood (Gothic 3), and Ascaron (Sacred 2) went bankrupt and out of business, the devs no longer had a job, went elsewhere and dev support for those games were abandoned.

jowood didnt make gothic 3 they were only the publisher...

pirahna bytes made gothic 3 , i think joewood had the IP rights for gothic 4 as someone else made it and im pretty sure now joewood went bankrupt the gothic IP is back with pirahna bytes

With Blizzard being the massive company that they are, you would really think they could put games out in a decent time frame...

I just don't understand why this isn't out yet.

They have the luxury of being in the position of being able to release it whenever they like and knowing full well that it will sell by the bucketload. They could release it next week and it would probably go straight in at No.1 in the chart, or they could release it in a years time and it would probably go straight in at No.1. Gives them the ability to release it when they want to, in order to fit in with their fiscal plans, rather than when the public wants it.

Here is a collection of runestone previews with the different effects annotated. I would have preffered seeing the animations in game.

Edit: You can't see the annotations in the embedded video. You must go to youtube.

We are off to see the beta!

Earlier today I received an invitation to go to Blizzard HQ, at the end of July (27th to be exact), for a world first look at the Diablo 3 Beta (which means Beta won't be out before this event), as well as some new feature reveals, including information on Battle.net 2.0. In addition to these reveals and hands on play, we'll be able to sit in a fansite interview with a few developers, so if anyone has any questions, feel free to let me know in this post and I'll ask what I can! The event itself will be under NDA until August 1st, but I'll keep you all in the loop.

Now for some speculation... Keep in mind, there is still no release date, this could potentially be pretty big. As we know, they are shooting for the Beta to be released in Q3 and they want to have all system and game information revealed prior to that happening. With this event coming up, we will then be able to spill all the beans about the Beta, which could mean it could very well start very shortly after this event. Not only that, but depending on how long the Beta lasts, could mean that we may still potentially have a 2011 release date.

Early/Middle of August is likely for beta release! :D I hope I get in.

latest news...

An inside source has revealed that Activision-Blizzard is pushing to release Diablo 3 by NOVEMBER OF THIS YEAR, and has employees working from 9am – 2am daily to finish polishing content. It has long been rumored that D3 would be released by the end of this year, though Activision-Blizzard has inexplicitly denied this by excluding Diablo 3 from this years listed releases.

release date for this as per usual is pure speculation.
