None of the classes really jump out to me, might try a magic character this time as I was mainly an Amazon or Barb in D2.

Definately. The one that sticks in my mind is Anya's Cave in Hell mode. (the place where you get the resistance scroll)

I had a friend with me, and both of us had really good gear, and we were with a few randoms too. We had end game stuff, level 80+.

We literally could not take a step without getting one shot, it was mental. It's been a long time since I played but I think they were gloams.

If it was streams of lightning then its Gloams yeah. They were a complete joke. Basically you just had to have your hand poised over escape if you were ever entering an area where Gloams could spawn... they would spam you with Lightning from about 3 screens away and slaughter you even with high resistance, never mind bad resistances.

demon hunter for me. My favs in d2 were zon and assasin. Dh seems like a mix of the 2

Either Barbarian or Wizard. Saying that, I always lean towards caster classes in games, would be nice to go for some brute force for once.

I'm gonna be playing a Monk and Wizard. I love wizards but usually hate melee and summoning classes.

I just can't wait any longer - time to replay diablo 1 and 2. Is is possible to buy them anywhere online that will work with windows 7? (old cd copies long since lost somewhere)

DII should work out of the box on windows 7 I tied mine to my battle.net account and have installed from the downloader there and i've had it running on 7 you can buy from blizzards store although should be able to get them cheaper retail, doubt any other digital service will have them

You can get D2 for peanuts from certain online retailers, and you can link retail copies to your Battle.net account for a permanent DD copy.

D1, I'm not so sure about.

There is no Paladin and the Monk play style is completely different. The only returning class is the Barbarian.
