I suspect Normal difficulty will be easy, like D2. It generally is for all of the games of this type. Nightmare, Hell and Inferno difficulties should be anything but easy though. :)

I didn't like the jump from Nightmare to Hell. You went from being able to walk all over things in Nightmare to getting your ass handed to you by small mobs simply because they had so much health. Wasn't so bad with Necro or Sorc but I just never seemed to have a chance on Barb.

If they have a mode as hard as hell or hardcore in D3 I'll be pleasantly surprised, they'd lose too many of their casual players that were expecting to jump into a group and leave with epics after half an hour with little forethought.

I'd have thought most casual players would stick to normal, hence why it's always so easy.

Blizzard seem quite adamant that the harder difficulties will please those that want them though. :p

Well, they included Brutal in SC2. And that is insanely hard. For me at least.

I imagine they will keep something hard in mind for those looking for a challenge :p

I think you were expected to farm Nightmare mode to boost levels/items before jumping into Hell - but I agree, the balance was a little off!

I hope they do make it a genuine challenge on Hell difficulty...

I did but short of spending days and weeks farming Baal there was only so much you could. It was depressing being able to stomp Act V units then going onto Act I Hell and taking a lot of hits to kill Zombies in the first area. If you got swarmed by the rogues you were as good as dead.

Hell was so damn hard on D2. I liked that though, willing to bet it will be much easier this time.

Hard was good but there a lot of broken things on D2. Lightning Enchanted was a death sentence if you were melee. Fire Enchanted wasn't much better either and had a habit of either doing very little or 1 shotting you. And Gloams... urgh. Elemental weaknesses were really over the top.

It was as if they balanced it around Normal and then just amplified things up for the difficulties and the powerful things just went over the top.

Maybe I need to play a physical character again :p Too much playing Necro recently where my skeletons stomp everything on every difficulty so my memory of Hell on a Barb is lacking :p

Anyone got a beta invite yet? I hate how vague blizz are with numbers and dates, I'd much prefer to know when to expect an invite to see if I get one or not rather than thinking there's a small chance an e-mail will come anywhere in the next months!

No one has an invite.

Don't think it's started properly.

As for class, I'm tempted by the demon hunter. Or a witch doctor. But since we get 10 character slots, I will make one of each ;)

Definately. The one that sticks in my mind is Anya's Cave in Hell mode. (the place where you get the resistance scroll)

I had a friend with me, and both of us had really good gear, and we were with a few randoms too. We had end game stuff, level 80+.

We literally could not take a step without getting one shot, it was mental. It's been a long time since I played but I think they were gloams.
