Thanks for the stream links guys!

Looks like they haven't implemented auto-pickup like in some other games :(

My poor mouse.

Edit: I take that back, I saw in the Witchdoctor stream he just ran through the gold. I'm sure I saw the guy clicking it in the Wizard stream.

You'd be amazed what some people are like in games.
Like the guy individually selling items by clicking the cauldron then the item instead of using shift left-click, then doing the same for breakdown. I mean it even SAYS SO WHEN YOU HOVER OVER! :P

If there isn't autopick up, I'm sure it's because it's the amount of drops would fill up your inv all the the time, if there is then they probably aren't using it, or it could be on a on-use button.

Not to mention health/mana globes and cash is already radius pickup with items that increase the range :)

Maybe its facepalm to you oldschool players.

It's nothing to do with being an old school player. The view is an integral part of the genre and series. If it were third or first person it wouldn't be Diablo.

You may as well be asking the next Battlefield game to be turn based or the next GTA to be a point and click adventure game.

They should put filters for loot auto-pickup, so you can say only pick up blue or above automatically. I think they did this in Torchlight, can't remember.

Regarding the graphics, this is what I thought Diablo 3 would look like: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k8779Ff_qoc

Yeah I know, you like that better, I think PoE is a bit dull, obviously not a well funded developer like blizzard and it's F2P, but I like the atmosphere better in diablo.

That's not to say if PoE came out before Diablo 3 I wouldn't play it, I would it looks like a great game to fill "THE VOID". But the differences in graphics aren't that stark to really complain.

Although I'm pretty biased, I'm on the "who gives a **** about the graphics" bandwagon and you'd be hard pressed to quote me saying anything negative about a game because of its graphics, but then I'm a gamer from the late 80s as a child and grew up to appreciate it in all it's colours and forms. But yeah let's not that "that argument", just throwing it out there :d

Not really no.

As in old school player someone thats played Diablo 1/2 is what is ment.

And if the style of this game allowed you to get into 1st/3rd person views wouldn't that rock too?

It would lengthen the development time a good margin, as if blizzard need that kind of incentive. :p

Yeah I'm not too fussed about graphics either, as long as the gameplay is awesome. I played Final Fantasy 6 on an emulator on my PC years ago and that is one of my favourite games ever. Same with Pokemon Gold. I just had a certain expectation as too how the game would look. I was a bit disappointed when I first saw it, but seeing these vids it's not as "WoW" as I thought it would end up being.

It would be completely irrelevant to the gameplay, and add a large amount to an already lengthy development time. Why would any sane developer do it?

If they were actually changing the gameplay to give it a purpose, it would be suicidal for Blizzard to alter Diablo that drastically and completely alienate the fans of the series.

You'd be entirely changing the type of game and what Diablo is.

Have to agree.... keep it iso! Otherwise it's just not diablo...

Agree also. There is just not enough decent iso games anymore.

I was disappointed to hear that Fallout 3 would not be iso during its development. (I still bought the collectors but thought it was total crap as a sequel to the first 2 and have since shelved it and not bought any addons).

The thing you have to remember, is that there is a huge fanbase which blizzard needs to cater for.

Changing the view point of a game so dramatically will have a huge effect.

Bad example seeing as GTA went from top down to suddenly being a 3rd person game :p

Was GTA3 not GTA because they moved away from a top down view?

Maybe, but the change to third person was a benefit to gameplay in that case imo. ;)

I remember when the first Driver game came out, thinking and talking with my mates about how good it would if it took it one step further, letting you get out the cars and move around, steal other cars etc.

If GTA3 had come out as a top down game, (for me at least) it would have been massively stale and seen the franchise die off rather than grow. If Diablo 3 changed, it would become just another hack and slash game.

I wouldn't hold your breath then. :p

Looks fine as it is. I'm for more interested in having good art direction than epic tessellation in a title like this.

Going to play devils advocate here. Thing is the entire diablo series is composed of hack and slash games - pure and simple (3rd one even more so what with them taking away skill points). The only thing that sets them apart from others of their kind is excellent execution of the final product by Blizzard.

There is nothing to say Blizzard would not be able to make D3 into something resembling Hunted: Demon's Forge, but then we would most likely lose the randomly-built maps (which would be a major loss imo).

The major arguement against full 3D would be the limitations it brings, plus the appeal isn't as great as some of you seem to make out - how many of you played dragon age origins in full zoom? Can't have been that many given that one of the most frequent complaints about DA2 was that the camera was too close and couldn't be panned out further.
