Tried to log in and b.net is down for maint, oh well :p

It's not showing up on my b.net account in account management.
 
Humm starter edition will do me until the 15th!

Looks like the download files on the link above are the same as the ones I have already downloaded. Shame I am not at home to test. I assume though I will just see the message about D3 not launching yet.

I have the client files downloaded from the other day but when ran I just got told that D3 hadn't launched yet. Is this message no longer given then?

If you preloaded from your battlenet account you will get told that D3 hasn't launched yet.

If you dl that executable from the us.battle.net ftp, it will redownload files for you.

Looks like Blizzard have taken it down though.

Makes me wonder just how much time we can play will be dictated by Blizzards maintenance. WoW was bad enough.

I was just about to try the beta client but then read that blizzard took it down :(

Blizzard has temporarily taken down Diablo III's closed beta servers after an apparent glitch opened up a "Starter Edition" of the game to anyone with a Battle.net account for a brief period earlier this morning.

Starting at about 6am Eastern time, discussion forums around the Web started lighting up with the apparent news that anyone with a valid Battle.net account could download, install and access the previously invite-only beta. At about 8:45am Eastern time, however, Blizzard took down the downloadable installer and all Diablo III beta servers for maintenance.

"The Diablo III beta is currently unavailable while we work to resolve an issue," Blizzard community manager Nethaera writes on the game's official forums, promising an update in the next few hours.

Ah, I thought you meant an actual ftp address, hence why I couldn't find it past the account linked download ;D thanks though.

Any thought on whether you're going to roll dual wield or 2h? Spirit regen is much much faster dual wielding, but then with 2h your spirit spenders and normal attacks hit a lot harder. Its also possible to gen spirit and then switch weapons mid combat to spend the spirit, but its really awkward.

Dual wield system works pretty strangely for anyone who hasn't seen it yet. Attacks use alternate hands, so if you have a 3 hit combo it will use

Main hand -> offhand -> main hand

It also works out that if you have a really strong mainhand and a crappy offhand your dps can go down.
 
It's just been problem aftr problem since they invited 275,000 people and applied patch 17.

Can't get in-game now due to error 300008 which I assume is a network error.

They're cutting it a bit close with stress tests and 'live' servers.

They haven't even tested the EU servers yet!
 
Gotta love the beta, check out the ping I'm getting :)
