This game is taking way too long.

It seems like forever since that guy came out on Stage at BlizardCon and was playing that epic Diablo 2 song. :(

Indeed we've been waiting a very long time for a good follow-up to Diablo - because Diablo II certainly wasn't it.

From what I've seen of D3, and it's no more than anyone else, it certainly looks promising.
But there - so did Hellgate: London :)

Just heard from the live stream that the beta is due to go external in Q3, and they're aiming to release Diablo III before the end of the year.

Not much of an update really..

What was wrong with D2? Defo better balanced and better thought out than D1. And it actually had a cow level :P

I have high expectations of Diablo 3 and it certainly looks promising, used to love Diablo 2 back in the day, but unfortunatly it hasn't aged too well, hopefully Blizzard wont push it back further than the end of the year.

What do you mean it hasn't aged well? The graphics look as good as they need to for how they did the game. It has its faults but they've been present for a long time and are nothing to do with 'ageing'.

With beta apparently coming in Q3 and closed alpha already starting I can't see them getting it out much later than late this year/early next year, as they won't want people spending too much time in beta without buying as it cuts down on impulse buys.

Also I've only just seen a Q&A stating that games will be a maximum of 4 players - I can't help but feel like I'd miss the chaos of 8-player grind fests a lot. Having played mmo's for a long time I can't help but feel like 4 players will be like a constant instance feel. I just hope they don't turn it into basically a free to play dungeon finder kind of mechanic. Be put in a random group, complete quests, get achievements and never speak to them again. Here's hoping otherwise!
