I hope you're being sarcastic or you should shut up because you have no idea what you're talking about :).

This tbh.

They're putting everyone that would normally be spread onto three or so sets of servers (US, EU, Asia) onto just the US servers, once this initial rush slows chances are it'll be fine.

What do they need overflow servers for given that? It's a stress test, what better way to stress a system than to put three systems worth of players onto just one.

If they do struggle, they'll beef it up as they need for release. Hense why they're testing it now...

Been doing that constantly , it doesnt work.

You people have no idea how backward Blizzard's servers are.

GW2 beta - no one has to wait to log in, or be denied from logging in because any excess players are offered temporary overflow servers. They still get to see how many people are logging in and how much their main servers can handle.

I see no reason why other companies cant implement a similar feature.

Go play GW2 then.

To be fair bhavv is right, it's a pretty poor show not to have enough servers up.

Surely they already have a good idea of server loading from the previous closed betas, and should have planned ahead for the mass of people a open beta would bring.

The GW2 stress test the other week went off without a hitch, everyone could log in and start playing no problem.

bnet really has no excuse. It's not like this is their first rodeo.

The GW2 beta demand will be fairly small compared to the amount of people trying to get on Diablo now I can assure you.

It is the america server we're supposed to be connecting to, or rather trying to right?

Yes, there are no other servers.

They are making sure they know the limits of their servers and what happens when the limits are reached.

You dont understand the term overflow servers.

When the limits are reached, they could easily offload extra people onto overflow servers, which is what Arenanet have already implemented for their servers.

There is no excuse in this day and age for a company as rich as Blizzard to have such a poor showing for their open beta stage, and to have such crappy obsolete server methods.

How could they seriously not have anticipated how popular this game would be? They arent daft.

I can assure that Blizzard also know this, and they could have easily anticipated how much server space they needed, as well as potentially offering something similar to overflow servers.

It would have also been nice to get an installer that actually works and installs the client, I'd expect at least that much from a company that earns over $500 million per quarter off a single game.

Diablo isn't persistent, there is no reason to have overflow servers for D3, having more server capacity would be the exact same thing.

Also raises a question really, what happens when the overflow servers are maxed. Queues or just a refused connection? They aren't infinite.

Edit - clarification: persistent as in world.

Instead of waiting around and trying every minute, I've been quite productive. Had a shower, and now getting to grips with Instagram! Trying out all the picture mod after effect thingymajigs or whatever you call them.

We will see what happens next weekend, if the GW2 first open beta is as bad as this, I'll be complaining even seeing that I actually had to pay to get into it.

GW2 isnt persistent, its an open world game with servers. You simply get to play on any server, if the one you pick is full they will allow you to choose to enter an overflow server. I see no reason why Blizzard servers cant be like that as well.

Yeah far too many people in this thread raging about re-typing there account details :p

Honestly, if you seriously expected to be able to play it tonight, at least at any stable ping, you were always going to be disappointed. End of the day its still a stress test.
