***The Official E2140/E2160 Overclocking Thread***

DavidB - what motherboard was that with?

I'd like to see what's possible, as I have similar hardware (2140, 2Gb Ballistix PC5300, Asus P5K and a Noctua cooler) arriving today. Cheers.

Yeh, im glad i didn't need to play around with the dividers, thats the ballistix for you though.

The spec is :
Gigabyte DS3R
2gb ballistix 5300
E2140 (mine says it has a max of 1.35v on the box though, normally 1.325 i thought? and a vid of 1.275)
Tuniq 120 tower
p182
Corsair HX520w

I recon i could overclock higher tbh, but the temperatures might start to be a problem.
Shaved 1 second off superpie 1m, 6 off 2m, although as far as im aware 19seconds on super pie is still pretty slow for a processor at 3.2 ? Guess the cache is more use for benchmarking etc.

Nice overclock and a good CPU with lowish default VID. I'd like one for my matx setup which runs a bit too hot! Did you get the E2140 from here mate?

Yup, all bought from OCuk, was in august though so might be an entirely different batch now, think a lot have had a much lower vid, im having to run it at ~1.42v to get 3.2 rather than only ~1.31v for 3ghz.

Just paired a 2160 up with a Gigabyte DS3 (rev 3) and some OCZ Platinum revision 6400 RAM.

System won't boot any higher than with FSB at 220MHz. Have disabled legacy USB and all of the CPU frequency utilities (C1E etc).

Have tried a number of different memory multipliers so the RAM isnt overclocked and still no luck.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Cheers

"3.3" those look pretty high temperatures, you overclocking it all on air ? 1.088v in cpuz ? Im guessing thats just major vdrop ? Have you got a later screeny, mine fails 3.3 at about 2/3 hours for some reason.

everest has the right vcore 1.34 - i've run it like that for months... bioshock mohaa etc all run fine for hours n hours...

if i run it at 3.2 the temps come right down.. likewise 3.4 and there even higer..

I use a zalman water cooler - yes naff i know but i can't be doing with fan noise...

Cheers very much Melbourne, i only noticed the BIOS revision after posting my problem, F2 does seem pretty old considering i am using F11 on mine (spec in sig).

Unfortunately there is no way to change the multiplier on this board, but will give flashing the BIOS a go and see where we are from there.

I bought this chip due to the fact it is excellent value for money consideringt the overclocks ppl have been getting, but only having an increase of 200Mhz is a bit of a pain.
