Wow... As a new player i thought my 40LY total jump was horrible. That sounds the worst!

The process to getting to Jacques is as follows:

Warp into a system. Do a system scan. Refuel if needed. Warp to next system. Repeat approximately 800 times (in my case). Yes you read that correctly! 800 times.

The reward for this is only the credits you get from the exploration data. I don't believe there is actually much to do at Jacques, I am only doing it so that I can say that I have done it.

Finally arrived at Jaques in my asp exp after what feels like weeks...

well, didn't realize I needed to go back into missons to receive the CG reward. just found out I made the top 10% in the data drop CG and have gained an extra 82 million!

what the hell, I'm rich and there's nada to spend it on out here :)

Finally made it to Jacques too. I put it into solo mode about 5000 LY before I arrived to make sure I wasn't destroyed by a griefer and sent all the way back to the bubble. It felt great after arriving at the station.

The trip was pretty uneventful. Didn't come across any neutron stars or black holes. Found some nice binary systems and this nice system with 3 stars.

The process of getting there was like some kind of self flagellation though. Am I right in thinking that I can just buy a sidewinder and self destruct and then select to go to my sidewinder in the bubble and I will avoid the long trip back?

Well, my exit to main menu just worked, loads of disabled modules, 24% hull but alive...

Docked at Jaques..
Sold all my data and got just over 10mill, got a few first discovers as well....
Noticed one of the guys that jumped me is on the wanted list...

iv just got the game and wondering whats the best joystick for it and help would be great

That's all a matter of cost.
At the cheaper end is the Thrustmaster 16000, which for the money is a steal.
A lot of guys use Saitek units and seem happy, though I've read of a few "areas of opportunity" on quality control. Feels like a bit of a lottery.
I personally use a full CH setup, i.e. fighterstick, throttle and pedals and think they're great, if far from cheap. The CH gear is often quoted as being the most reliable, if not the best looking. Personally I'd rather fly than look at it.
At a slightly higher price is the Thrustmaster Warthog, which some people swear by and in theory has the best technology for the pots.

Above that, you're into the real specialist stuff, including items like Slav pedals. Prices start to really go up (over £200 for a set of pedals alone), but they're often beautifully made of high grade materials and are into the arena of home versions of kit used for real simulators.
If you want to see some genuinely nuts stuff, go have a look in the DCS forums (eagle dynamics) at their sub forum on input/output gear. There's a lot of custom gear listed.

Quiet?!!?!?!?

I got jumped by 2 ships as soon as I got into the system and taken out...

Phew?!?! so you are alive???

Are you playing in open Trig?

If so please DON'T!!! come and join us on either MOBIUS or FLEETCOMM private groups.

Before joining FLEETCOMM you need to join the Colonia Citizen Networks Discord server - details are in this forum post - https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/282462-The-Colonia-Citizens-Network

I'm currently a Colonial Scout within the CCN.

For MOBIUS you need to join the Elite PVE group - https://elitepve.com/

The CCN are / have formed a militia called the Colonia Militia Forces and have been fighting back against the gankers and pirates. There was a group earlier on the weekend but I believe they were chased away by the CCN in open play.

You can join both these networks via the in-game menu "Friends and Private Groups"

Another vote for the Thrustmaster HOTAS X for the price (£40'ish) it's a steal.

CH Fighterstick here - no calibration required 1-to-1 movement is perfect and synced with the in-game cockpit joystick :)

Plus loads of configurable buttons and good (but dated looking) software.

iv been looking at the Thrustmaster Warthog looks cool and LOADS of buttons.

Im willing to spend £500 on a full set up so if people right place that would be grate and ill take a look
