Just got the game w/ horizons.
Still getting all the basics down but I can fly, land, suv etc... now im trying to do a mission to drop off data.

I looked at the map but its not letting me plot to the point, and I cant figure out how to get there as its 10ly and my ship is like 6 max? I guess I cant even do that right?

So if I cant do a basic drop off mission, what exactly am I supposed to do here? how do I get money.. *cry*

To increase jump range you need to put in a betted FSD drive, or even just make your ship lighter. For example changeing a 1E life support system to a 1D will make it lighter.

Have a player here playing with modules and looking how it affects your jump range - https://coriolis.io/outfit/sidewinder

Question for you guys.
I've been reading comments that it's possible to make bonkers credits doing community goals. When I last checked, the max possible seemed to be 20-30 million.

What am I missing here?

One a couple of weeks ago was ridiculous. Tens of minutes of work = nine figure sums.

Since then we've had a couple more generous ones (eg: 50m top bracket), and now they seem to be calming down to more sensible amounts ago. eg: 32M for top 10%.

This afternoon I decided to go on my first semi planned exploration run in my 26.9 light year Imperial Clipper. Whereas everybody else hits the big black in stripped out buckets, I like to explore Star Trek: TNG style. :o

Heading 'up' out of the plane I now find myself about 900 light years above Sol sitting a questionably sane 68km from my very first black hole. Those light bending effects are mesmerizing. I just wish we had proper camera controls...

The stars are already starting to thin out up here. I kinda like it.

Like you I always bring a full complement of weapons just in case things go pear shaped on the way back home, but I do tend to drop power plant and shield size to keep my jump range reasonable. That's on my asp though which does 49.9 ly even like that.

Had a play at the engineers and found that a little frustrating with the RNG rolling but back enjoying the game again. I will also be jumping in my Asp and going exploring over the next couple of days.

Haha yeah same, but I found that as long as I always do a little bit of scanning here, scoop up some materials there when I'm out in combat (I put a collector limpet in my cobra just for this) then I have enough stuff to get a few rolls in and get what I want, bar the odd commodity here and there. Absolutely failing at getting the experimental effects on the weapons though. I always miss.

Sat there in my anaconda with 51million in the bank - WHY CANT I PAY a new player to go get my those daft wake scans that I need for the engineers ?

"Oh you, fancy making 20,000?, go and get me 10 tonnes of iron"

Player generated missions would be a great addition.

For me the Trading CG's are currently the best part of the game and one of the few reasons I still play from time to time.

Unfortunately I don't always get time to participate in them, however, even if you can do a few runs it's reasonably easy credits to be made for sometimes very little effort.

The thing I like about them is that they bring a lot of likeminded players together in what very often feels like a lonely existence doing your own thing in that mass expanse of a galaxy. This is especialy the case when the CG requires you to work together and have Commanders loading up the larger ships for a piece of the pie.

Others probably favour the Combat over the Trading ones, but each to their own.

I need to double check but you can "buy" the effect you want can't you on the wheel of fortune screen I believe?

ok so i made better progress last night, think i made about 200,000 just by doing trading delivery missions.

I completely brokedown my ship, no shield, no suv etc to get the weight down to do the 10ly jump and have been slowly upgrading it as iv been completing missions to the point that I can now make bigger jumps, carry more.

I think I need a bigger ship though just so I can install more stuff, thinking of getting an adder next for the couple extra slots?

The early stages of the game are fun, where every extra ton of cargo space is golden :)

And when you get the T6 it feels epic :)

Note: Be super careful when upgrading ship that you retain enough CRs (even after buying) for your insurance rebuy. You wouldn't be the first CMDR to lose everything!

Sort of. If you get an effect you don't want, you can use favours to choose the one you do want. You need to build rep to get those favours though.

Yeah do it. That or a hauler (no reason you can't have both!)
