Yes have horizons, lifetime pass thingy.

No idea on the SRV think I will park the annie and buy a mk4 and pootle about somewhat. Does the Engineer upgrades work across all ships or just the one you work the grind in ?

It's module specific so you need to upgrade each ship. My asp now does nearly 50ly jumps with weapons :) it didn't take me ages to get the FSD upgrades done, just a couple of one's you have to do missions for.

The good thing is, once you have unlocked level 5 upgrades, you can do that across all of your ships. My Cutter will jump 21Ly carrying 720T, which is fantastic for trading purposes. I made roughly 40Mil in 4 hours yesterday with a 2 jump round trip. Finding Arsenic for level 5 FSD range was the only PITA though but got there eventually.

I'm working on trading atm to increase my ranking in an Asp Explorer with 122t cargo space. I have moved from trading rares to a single hop trade run from A > B > A netting about 4000 profit per ton over both legs. I'm still a bit new to trading so is this the best way to maximise my profit per ton / hour (outside of any CG's) or am I missing any tricks?

4000CR per ton? Where on earth is that route?

Nice route and it is sweet when you find one like that. Before I put the game away to play other things, I had a similar run but coming back 4 months later, it had been exhausted :(

My run nets me roughly 3300 per ton on my round trip, so my advice is keep that run to yourself and milk it :D

This is so true. It's amazing how many things in games across the board have tactics such as trade routes nerfed because someone posts a " how to make x£/hour in - X Game " video then you have 20,000 people doing the exact same thing and it just becomes worthless.

Keep it with you and maybe your close friends.

I have to give a big thumbs up to FD. Since returning, the game has a much better feel to it. Trading is easier in terms of bookmarks in the map. Combat is much tougher now (as it should be) and NPC's are much smarter as such. The engineer's is a good addition and sure, it is a little grindy but that is something I don't mind and something that has always been part of ED.

I am looking forward to 2.2 now and hopefully will be sticking around for some time after.

Good job FD :)

Thanks chaps, I just didn't want to be missing anything. Am happy to share the route if anyone wants it (I'm not that precious) but I got it from eddb.io so it can't be a huge secret

I'm currently supercruising to Hutton Orbital in Alpha Centuari. It's 0.22Ly away, and with my supercruise now at 600c, it'll take 3h to get there :( is there any way to speed it up?
The estimated time is based on your current speed, which isn't all that useful on such a long run (I vaguely recall it gets to 2000c). Hutton normally takes something like 40-45 minutes.

I'm wanting to get back into this, but I've been out of the game for over a year and have no idea where to safely start. The last time I played, I parked up my fully upgraded battle Python at an outpost (I think it was called Menen?) and had about 10mil creds in the bank which was(is?) enough for a couple of insurance payouts if needed. I'd like to start making some more credits but I don't want chance combat just yet in case I die. What would be the safest way for me to get back into the game and make some creds on top?

it should take about 1 hr 20, as a hutton trucker i've done the journey a number of times

Completed both of the combat options in the Community Goals. Ended up in the top 10% both times, and without a huge amount of effort, so that's a nice 40 mill in the bank.
Being fair, could have made that in two Sothis runs, so the payoff/time investment is similar.

Had a quick look at the military intelligence missions. They strike as very much missions to complete in a wing. e.g. 3 ships sorting out the cover, whilst one kicks a T9 for it's cargo. Tried it alone in my Vette and quickly had to do a runner.
If a few of you fancy setting up a Wing to share out some military intelligence, let me know.

Yeah we tried it last night and there was a lot of pvp happening there too. Got spammed by the malfunction beams until I died :( lost 40m in insurance!
