*** The Official Elite: Dangerous Thread ***

While I rail against the "muh immersion" crowd, I still find myself wanting to vote for a delay. Instant transferring just seems wrong.

On other news, I discovered my first earth-like today. I'm now running out of things I wanted to achieve after coming back to Elite. Anyway I headed back to Farseer Base this evening and cashed in. However, the grind to level 5 FSD mods is real. I'm guessing that's immersive too... :D

I had every intention of going on a very long journey but decided to have a real go at the FSD stage 5 boost and it wasn't that bad in truth. Got my Conda up from 20Ly to 30Ly jump. A nice boost indeed and will be much further when I drop it down from A rated mods. It took me around 12 hours game time at a guess as a heads up.

Thanks thought as much.
I watched a video about doing RES > Cobra > Sothis Run. Going to start that tonight and see what happens.

Yeah I suggest rare runs as a starter. A type 6 makes a good mining ship. What you absolutely need are collector limpets. They take a huge amount of hassle out of mining. So you need maybe 10 limpets in your cargo hold for a short run, 2 mining lasers and a decent refinery to keep things chugging along. Fairly cheap in a type 6. For you I would focus on getting that cobra though.

Anyone getting involved in the latest CGs ?

The combat one (collect combat bonds) is basically just CZ farming. I've got a sneaky collector limpet controller installed for picking up all the dropped materials so getting engineer materials at the same time :-)

So far at tier 3 in top 25% the reward is 1.8million so assuming it gets to tier 8, the reward should be nice......

hi all, ok so I returned to elite after several months out, and omg am I doing something wrong or am I just rusty or are the npc's a lot tougher, as I have been blown away in my mainly a rated conda 3 times now by a single federal assault ship or dropship one or the other, my shields die in seconds and my hull shortly after, this is getting to be expensive as ive lost nearly 40 mil in rebuy costs in 2 days. I am now thinking about using a cheaper ship to fly around in

Welcome back.

It's not you. The AI got tweak here and there resulting in NPC's being tougher. You need to pick your fights a lot better or have your RemLock handed to you on a plate! :p

Just gone to the CZ in my vette. If you're a member of Mobius and fancy winging up, drop me a message. My tag in game is the same as here.

So where to start again. I left the game just before power-play was released (no tme really) and my Anaconda is right where i left it in floating in imperial space.

After a awkward docking, what the hell do i need to do (apart from PP which i still think is a train wreck)

Engineers is a good place to start. Boost that FSD range and armour up that power plant. Sex up your lasers and pump your shield.

As said, I think it should be for fleet relocation only, not as a real 'gameplay' mechanic.
Why not as a gameplay mechanic?

Heck, I'd be up for storing and relocating equipment as well, to save having to try and find specific kinds every time I upgrade my ship... that, or possibly an Eve-style directory of what is for sale where - Still have to go get it, or pay extra for shipping, though.

Not sure what I'm supposed to do while waiting almost 2hrs for my ship to get here - I assume I can carry on flying around doing missions and things?

Yep... FSD is a good place to start with the Engineers...

Pssst! Don't bother with Level 1-3 Overcharged Pulse upgrades. Just worked out they're a complete nerfed waste of time. Better to not use them!

Thanks will start looking at the engineers then.

Note: If you have Horizons... Sulphur obtained from the SRV is your friend for quick leveling up for better FSDs.

ie: You can do 30-40 level 1 FSD craftings (& even just ignore them) to quickly level up with the Engineer.

I think Farseer will buy cartographic date also to rank up. Might be worth checking first but I know there are one or two engineers you can sell carto data to.

Cracked industrial firmware is breaking me at the moment. Tried a ton of bases, also searched for crashed satelites. It's a bit snoozeworthy now if I am honest.

Sorry Bud, I would have joined you but I was in my cutter doing some trading. My Anaconda that is a war machine was 276 (ish) Ly away :(

Yes have horizons, lifetime pass thingy.

No idea on the SRV think I will park the annie and buy a mk4 and pootle about somewhat. Does the Engineer upgrades work across all ships or just the one you work the grind in ?
