Do you have SS setup or anything like that for the best appearance. I'm running a 1070 so should have a reasonable level of GPU grunt.

I just run with Ultra settings and max draw distance on my 1080 and it never drops below 90 fps (max refresh of the Rift). You should be golden with that 1070 and I used to change the colours on the DK2, as reading the text was hard but no issues at all on the CV1, so I leave them as default now. There is some tweaks people use but I am more than happy with what I see, so left it all alone.

Great - just wish the delivery driver would turn up :-)

Can't wait to have a look round my conda and get my vulture into some RES zones.

You will love it. On another note, whilst mining and waiting for the sun to switch round, I thought I would take a moment to just enjoy how good this game really does look at times.

The annoying thing about being able to do that in a private group is that you do it without any possible repurcussions. You can affect the background sim and if people want to stop you they cant.

They are forced to just do the same thing you are doing in order to do so because they cant physically blockade a trade cg for x y z reasons.

Not saying pvp is key but a station needs components well maybe a rival faction doesnt want you to get those components there. They decide to setup a blockade but cant do **** because people are doing the cg in solo and private groups.

They really copped out having separate shards as they are instead of having a solid and well run security system in place to respond to attacks in higher security systems unless at CG's ofcourse.

This is the only thing I dislike about ED really.

Funny its what i love about ED, i can totally avoid PVP and still have a impact on the game.

All PVP does is Min-max builds.

Good news: I can now dock without crashing my ship or getting blown up for trespassing over the wrong landing grid :) . Currently doing the training missions on a loop so I can remember the keybindings but loving even just doing those! Top marks to Frontier - it really is Frontier II (Elite III) & everything I hoped it would be (& actually, I didn't mind First Encounters at all tbh).

I didn't play for about 8 months. Came back to find engineers made a big difference. It gave you a reason to travel, explore and mine. As a result you can customise your ships for what you want them to do.

For example my all-purpose Anaconda now has a 29ly jump range, my Cobra can out run anything and jump 25ly. Make the smuggling/interdiction game easy to beat.

I would urge you to get back into it. The next release introduces ship carried fighters and passenger missions. So lots going on.

I'm sold. I can honestly say that I've never mined but just watched a video on how to do it. Doesn't seem complicated

It is weird but I just find it so relaxing and satisfying. Mining is poor for money reasons (made 4 mil in about 4 hours mining a pristine metal ring) but I have over 300Mil spare, so money isn't what drives me in this.

I will also be doing some passenger missions and one of them wanted me to go to Sag A and had it been the full game, I would have done it but I hate putting time into Beta, just to see it all vanish when Beta becomes main.

Yeah I can understand both comments above. I used to enjoy Robigo runs until I got indicted haha

I guess for Engineers mining is needed as well as planetary exploration

When does it become official and note beta?

If only there was some mechanic by which you could explorer and hunt down rich stateful resources and mine them out (alone or with friends)? - https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...antity/page8?p=4007154&viewfull=1#post4007154

Imagine if you found such a location and could sell its details (eg: to another CMDR)?

ie: The sort of stuff Braben suggested back at Kickstarter...

Gregster, realised my v.old Logitech Extreme3DPro joystick is just not up to teh job - Looking at the X52 - is the pro worth it ?

Also flying around is all fine. Even the galaxy map is OKish, but the system map is just about unusable with my current setup. I really need a way to select the elements of the system (asteroid zones etc) and target them.

It is totally amazing in VR, watching "your" arm fly the ship. Standing up and walking back from my chair into the conda cabin was just stunning. I can live with the godrays, the resolution is also OK although a bit strange coming from a 1920x1080 resolution.

CV1 needs better res/optics, but then the GPU would be unable to drive them at the required refresh. Eyeball tracking (as opposed to head tracking) provides an interesting option. Only render quality graphics where the player is actually looking, the rest of the scene could get away with far lower quality.

A great technology that will certainly become the norm in the future for this kind of game. Being there in the bridge of the 'conda' looking out at the inside of the station - wow.
