*** The Official Elite: Dangerous Thread ***

Ill be a bit disappointed if it is just Planetary Landing that's being announced. While that would be a nice DLC, i think there's way more that needs to be added to space before planets comes into things

I agree but Frontier doesn't really seem interested in that thing called gameplay, more with the grindfest and the ooooh factor. I'm kinda ok with the ooooh factor but I'd rather have some real MMO feature instead. Corps owning space? Manufacturing and a player driven market? Not a chance. So I'm fine with planetary landing offering zero new features, still better than grinding my ass out for fantasy princess vs fantasy guvnor

Left and joined RES about 4 times till first ship was Vulture... then Vulture / Dropships / Pythons for amost 90mins before I had to leave when I shot one of the security services in error.

Nice money though... FD need to make it tougher though as all the way through I was semi AFK while feeding kids etc. I'm sure if I was actually sat at PC the whole time it would have been more.

But then if it's tougher, it takes longer to make money and it's even more of a grind, etc etc etc.....

We want everything now, from planetary landings and walkings around of ships and ownings of spaces and all that Eve stuff... apparently.

Elite is supposed to be something that takes a long time.
If you just get everything pretty much straight off, it's just another play it and forget it game.

I agree.... but I wish you could choose how tough the RES was though rather than pot luck. The tougher RES should have the NPCs attack you rather than scan and fly away. You can sit there and recharge and pick targets currently

I would love the depth of eve though, player owned stations etc... but I guess we can't have it all.. at least we have proper combat with a joystick and not point and click :)

I also want better comms... for more human interaction. I was shouting in local chat, Python spawn but no-one was there or replied. I guess it's heavily instanced so odds of talking to someone slim

Isn't that what the low and high intensity ones are for?
If they attacked you, particularly without cause, then the faction rep system would be a bit borked.

However, they DO scan you, so if you carry a few ton of Gold or summat, they may well come and have a go... ;)

Did you have any players on your scanner?

I think that's a bit harsh tbf.

For me, PL (if it is the first announced DLC) should have been announced when the game was far more fleshed out. Its not greedy to want mining to be fixed and a viable career, currently it is a waste of time because there is no player driven market. These 2 things go hand in hand and should have been nailed down before release.

And PL is all well and good, but they've not even remotely looked at exploring the current space we occupy. Exploring is extremely boring and pretty much cut and past of other sectors within the game.

Im not trying to be negative, but i fail to see how this is "wanting everything now" its basic gameplay elements that just are lacking.

I do like the game (sank 600+ hours into it) but after 9 months i (and many others) expected it to be further along than it is.

Just found a system with a black hole, a white dwarf and four neutron stars!

The system before this one was a neutron star with an Earth-like, two very profitable systems in the space of a few minutes!

Its a truly great game but the grind to buy the better ships is now beyond ridiculous.

I gave up about 4 months ago may return at some time but for now I am done it takes way too much time to make progress once you reach a certain level.

Sooner or later you'll annoy one of the local factions enough that they will do just that, also, they tend to scan you and fly away because you have nothing they want, carry some high value cargo and see what happens...

Eve is how old now? It was pretty basic after it's first year too as I recall it but I agree, given the sheer size of the galaxy I think FD are missing a big trick with player owned stations, even if they protected the core bubble from players and made it a feature only available 1000k ly out from SOL or something.

haha yeah the cargo thing would work

Erm no players... is comms not system wide ? (I assumed it worked like eve chat)

Nope, local is local, if you cant see players in the instance you're not talking to anybody other than yourself :)

Have you read all the horrible shenanigans that sprout in the Frontier forums as soon as you type the word "eve"? I don't know what's wrong with them but I believe Frontier decided not to go the "power to the player way" just because of that. I mean, back in the beta days, people was screaming in the face of other people because they had the audacity to ask for "corporations" and the chance to own stuff. I mean, what the serious frack is wrong with them?

So, faithful to the playerbase my arse. EVE is a jem like no other and will remain so.

fake edit: I don't mean to start a flame over the eve-2-with-cockpit subject. Just saying I'd jump on that vagon immediately if there was anyone doing that. In the meantime I like this totally disconnected game that offer an infinite universe and no plot to keep it together.

The farther Elite stays away from EVE the happier I'll be, EVE is an awful game and the forums last I was there were nothing but a cesspool of humanity.

Very much tempted by the life time pass, if I knew it gave beta access to horizons I reckon I'd buy before my wallet knew what had hit it :)

EDIT: I can't read, apparently it does indeed.
