And, just out of interest, am I meant to deliver Tantilium to the station when its on lockdown lol...

I was grinding Fed rank in Chakpa (and the other Fed system nearby) but now they are not in boom. I've gone to Tun to continue my rank progression but with no other Fed systems in boom close-by its pretty slow going. Is there currently an equivalent where two close systems are both in boom? Fed or Empire aligned, I'm not precious.

Multicrew enabled update incoming :)

Hi everyone,

With the latest beta release (2.3 Beta 2.01), we’ve enable the new multicrew feature. We are aware of various issues that are revolving around multicrew currently. Please note that these issues will be fixed in due time. However, at this point, we’ve decided to allow our beta testers to have at it, so we can start compiling any additional issues that get reported. With a feature this complex, this is very much a beta test... we implore you to make sure you raise bug reports for problems you might encounter in our bug reports forum here.

As always, we’ll be closely monitoring the situation, and if it proves that multicrew has too many issues for the moment then we’ll disable it and hammer away at it some more for a future beta build.

Thanks in advance for your feedback!

  • Enabled multicrew.
  • Fix to correctly handle race condition when router type discovery takes longer than mtu discovery
  • Don't try and handle invalid IPV6 addresses
  • Collect direct telemetry on all IPv6 sync attempts
  • Prevent over-counting sync attempts in network statistics due to switching to Turn
  • Exclude Teredo addresses when looking for an IPv6 network connection
  • Fix credits for beta test starter pack
  • Adjusted the amount of exploration ranking awarded from selling exploration data to be 50% of the credits value, 20% of the credits value of Passenger Sightseeing missions and 40% of Long Distance expedition missions

Is anyone doing the mission from Meene, where you scan alien ruins?
Is it really the 20-60mil every couple of hours people are claiming it to be?

300Ly sounds an awful long schlep each way in my crappy FdL and I'm thinking I can make more money much faster by running trade hops.

If hasn't changed since I did it couple weeks ago, you have to grab several items from ruins (can be done in solo/private too) then log into live above ruins.
Anyone on ground scanning, logs onto you too.
Warning, there are pirates aka griefers killing for no reason at all.
Money wise, not every couple of hours. You have to fly back, hand in quest, pick it up again & then fly all way back out there.

Shouldn't be too bad if you upgrade your FSD & get it modded? About an hour there, an hour back fuel scooping? An alternative might be to keep an eye on the Passenger Lounge & if something juicy comes up just buy the cabins there and then?

My FSD is already upgraded and modded. Still a good 20+ jumps and the 900Ly one was going to take forever!!
I gave up last night and just dropped 12mil on a kitted out DiamondEx instead, mainly as they didn't sell Asps at any local place I could find.

Never found passenger missions sufficiently tempting, TBH. The well-paying ones all want several thousand Ly, which wouldn't be a problem on a long range ship, except that they invariably change their mind, adding destinations and it ends up being a week-long guided tour of the sector or something.
I'll see how this goes, as word is the latest CGs aren't especially impressive...

Had a bit of an Elite session today, which included my first foray in to a post launch Beta. I only tried 1.8 as I wasn't paying to bug test and really only went in to try and kit out an Imperial Cutter for the first time.

So I got it all geared up and headed off to indulge my Imperial captain fantasies. Got to the mail slot and suddenly found myself stationary, and then completely stuck... Switched to the nifty new exterior cameras and discovered a Beluga had arrived at the mail slot at the same time and we were both totally wedged in! Station control had enough of our incompetence and blew us both the **** up, which certainly gave me a chuckle. One can only imagine how horrified I would've been if this had happened on my main account!

I messed around with the camera's for a bit afterwards, but then went back to rank grinding in the main game. Beta playing seems a tad pointless to be honest.

Thats all well and good, but after flying around with a pal for 20mins.... There is still nothing to do....

Content not fluff or Grind.

The only thing I think multi crew is of use for, is either exploring & saying "Ooh, come check this out!", or finding something new with same results, or the most likely "Found some noob, come help me kill for no reason".

Erm, can "visitors" also take control of the spare ships you can carry? If so, then I imagine a load en masse hiding in solo ;)

I have the same problem with the Beluga & my Imp Clipper. They don't seem able to see the nacelles and try to fly straight through them; well that's my theory (or I could just be imagining it). Regardless, if I see a Beluga it's hitting full reverse for me.

I can see it appealing to some players who would enjoy it & the rewards would seem to make it worth it for many others too. Sure, it won't appeal to everyone but that's true about a lot of things in ED; do what you like, leave the rest is my philosophy. :)

Right. I've stopped being lazy and genuinely plan on getting back into ED now with my Vive. Dialed in some settings that seem okay on my 1070... but a 1080 is turning up for this weekend that should make things even smoother and look even better.

I was just doing a handful of missions starting from the very beginning again, before getting indirected and blaster out of the sky by another player. Dammit haha.

It's much improved compared to the months I tried it ago, far more helpful information for a new player. I hope I pick up the complex mechanics as it goes along... or finally watch those tutorial videos everyone goes on about.

For those with VR, whats the best method to handle the galaxy map?

Galaxy map in VR is a pain. You can bind stuff to move the map around OK, but unless you can touch type you are still going to have to look at the keyboard. I guess you could set up a voice attack profile to let you spell words but that's a pain.

I ended up setting loads of bookmarks - "Engineer - Blaster", "Materials - Arsenic" etc and using that mostly. The mission markers are helpful as well.

Thanks. I'm still jumping to relatively close destinations so for now I can sort of just guess where to go. Luckily I can touch type fairly well.

It is strange that when I select a mission in a station and 'open the galaxy map' I don't seem to be automatically selecting the final system destination. I would have thought that's how it worked, so I can easily hit 'plot route' and go from there...

Is this game worth playing yet? I bought it in March 2015 and played for a week or so until I ran out of "new" things to do. I was just exploring and bounty hunting.

I never bought the base game as I didn't think it was ready yet but with Horizon's I think it is. There are Engineers to unlock which enable ship modding, the addition of planetary settlements gives a whole new element of combat gameplay, and the alien plot is bubbling along for those who want a story (plus more like passenger missions). Of course, as you are setting your own goals what you get out of ED pretty much depends upon what challenges you set yourself.
