*** The Official Elite: Dangerous Thread ***

I'm switching and swapping between ships at the moment. An I just can't find a build I like, for bounty hunting.. :/

Currently trying to soup up a vulture again. Seeing as I've got over 60 million after selling some ships.

I'm just unsure what's best to go in it. A lot of conflicting views on the internet about the best load out.

Whatever works for you.

That being said power-plant needs to be engineered to be effective.

Fixed weapons whatever you end up with though.

Ah. That's where I'm struggling. Only got one engineer unlocked at the moment. I don't really wanna go down that route tbh.. think I'm gonna save for a conda. :) sell the vulture and just keep on using my type 6 as a business class taxi

I'm approaching the 300m in assets now :)

I have a fully kitted FDL, python and Asp explorer and 58m in the bank.

Considering selling the python and FDL to buy an anaconda....

Allows you to manoeuvre without needing to keep the nose pointed on target, better pilot? not at all, it's a question of having to keep pointed in a specific direction versus a far greater degree of flexibility.

I always go gimbled, more flexibility when it comes to targets, even if you can fly the socks off of it there are always ships out there that will out manouver, and if you're in a multiple hostile engagement zone you want to have as much gun on target time as possible..

I use gimballed 99% of the time. Just makes life easier even if you sacrifice some damage.

I don't understand how people use dumb fire missiles and manage to hit their targets. :P

Well, I have taken the plunge and bought an anaconda. Keeping the Asp as backup though.

It feels huge even compared to the python. Handles a lot more sluggish despite putting A rated thrusters on it.

Any tips on how to kit it out?

You gotta get reeeeeeeeal close and cozy with 'em, right up in their face, like... :D
That or plug 'em one up the afterburner :p

It is huge! :)
I haven't done this for ages, but A-class thrusters don't always give the best results. A lot depends on power output vs mass and all the other stuff you've got going on as well.
Play around in the outfitting screen and watch the stats change, you may find a smaller or lower class component can perform better.

You don't have enough money yet to make it worthwhile owning an Anaconda.

Even if you go to what ever his face his exploited system for the discount you won't have enough to make it workable.

You can probably light weight one, but it will get torn to pieces if you end up in a fight.

Yes park it up and rinse quince in you Asp for a couple of days for another couple of hundred million.

Played for an hour this evening for the first time in months.

My engineered full specced cutter and I spend 30mins mining in a pristine ring and then spend 30 minutes in a highRES bounty hunting with my SBF.

It constantly reminded me how beautiful the game is and equally how samey it is.

If you look at most of the posts here it is all about upgrading ships/grinding money. I want to hear about the stories, the adventures the random twists.

Player created missions would be a great start, let players basically be the DM and the game provide the mechanics. Escort missions, think freespace2 using ED mechanics.

Love this game ever since the original on the BBC model B first kept me playing all night.

So hope it keeps growing.

Yeh, I may do this for a while. Really don't want to pay the rebuy of 7m if it gets totalled.

Why is quince so good? Keep hearing about it. Shame it's about 500ly away.

Its good because you can stack scanning missions and complete them all at the same time, making about 10-15mill per run.
You can complete them at the nearest planet to the base so takes <5mins.
Crash your sidewinder pay 10k credits for a new one and spawn back at the base and rinse / repeat.

That sounds like an exploit / glitch to me?

Dilemma.

So I've got my vulture and I'm going to have a go at engineers. I've given Felicity the meta-alloys. Now I've got to get some sulphur.

Looks like I'm going to have to swap out my auto dock for a surface scanner, Bummer I hate looking for landing pads....

I now have an SRV too, anything else I need to do/buy etc before heading off to the nearest planet...
