Warning time.
Don't use multi-crew, at all! (does anyone even use it? lol)
Apparently there's some huge bug, where you get stuck at some game menu & can't do anything. People have even re-installed the game & they still can't get into the game.

When in super cruise, aim your ship so that you can see the entrance. Set all pips to engines & rest to shields, just in case :p Then drop out & immediately hit full speed & boost & then hit 1 to open docking page & request docking. By time you get it, you've got time to properly align with the slot & can zoom towards it. Hit half speed once really near.

By time anyone starts to scan you, you're already in the slot & are safe.

Personally, I don't even align unless by pure chance, as got used to zooming around at pull pelt when entering :D

So let me see if I read you correctly.

You approach a station at full pelt and dock last minute hoping not to get scanned?
Don't you get scanned inside? If not then that doesn't seem right surely?
A ship coming in at full speed....
"We need to scan that ship...."
"Oh crap its gone inside... doesn't look ominous, we can let it go"....

Or am I missing something? :)

I've never been scanned once through the slot. No idea if meant to be that way or not /shrugs.
Yeah, would make sense for them to scan you, but they don't until you're close & by then, it's too late.
Don't dock last minute.
As soon as you're within 7.5 you can apply for docking permission whilst you're heading towards the slot.
Then when near the guards rails outside drop to half speed & you should be able to just sail right through.

I can record one later if I load it up if you want.

Sorry I probably

Sorry I probably didn't explain myself correctly!
I meant, if the station sees a ship coming and they start to scan at the last minute and you avoid the scan because you entered, surely they should scan your ship inside the station?
I mean doesn't it look dodgy from their point of view that a ship evaded their scans and screamed into their dock and they just simply ignore it?

(I guess I'm thinking about it from a environment/realism point of view!)
Video would be smashing if you wouldn't mind?

Just had a quick multi crew session with my bro, am happy to report this didn't happen... sigh of relief lol.

Realism, sure. But luckily they've not done that. Yet... :p

Yet indeed!
Lets say they do implement this, then how else you get rid of your bounties on your head?

Well, if really desperate, you could always get in some really cheap ship (sidey etc) & slam yourself into the wall of a planet/station etc or pick a fight you know you'll lose.
Bounty is gone, you can respawn & get into your preferred ship knowing you're safer.
That or just leave it for a week & it resets to zero I think.

Clip is uploading, may take some time ;)

Been needed for a long time. Things like how the POI and AI spawn was supposed to be a placeholder way back in alpha, but never got improved. The game still lacks a real "living", persistent galaxy. It's all spawned in front of the player.

Also things planned for Horizons are still missing, such as atmospheric planets.

There's probably better ways to do this that better (more competent pilots hehe) can show, but this is me flitting to & from station ;)

First run you can see I have the nearby planet behind me & station in front. If you do that with this kind of station, you'll get the mail slot in front of you, as it always points towards the planet. The side you want to aim for if coming from any other angle is easier to find as the mail slot is on the side that spins anti-clockwise.

Second one is just the same, heading in from right in front & going full pelt & cutting to half speed once right near mail slot. Also, when leaving a station, all pips in engines & rest in shields still & boost just as leaving station & keep in a straight line & just keep boosting. Fairly sure they stop scanning you once you're 5km from station, so even if they start, you're usually out of range from them by then.

Third one you can see while in super cruise that you can keep going around until you get mail slot facing towards you, makes life easier. Usually aim for green lit side if it's clear, but you can use other side if it isn't, just watch out for others exiting.

Don't forget to use lateral thrusters to aid in manoeuvring when aiming for the slot if coming in from an angle, it can help a bit.

I had ruins artefacts & two UA in cargo so would've been fined a lot if scanned, but got lucky here. Not only didn't they complete a scan, they didn't even manage to start one.

Enemy ship attacking me also draws station ships to it first, instead of me or others in area :D

Also talking about atmospheric landings....so what, you land and see abit of the space port with people walking around..so what..the grind still exists albeit a very boring one. Atmospheric landings will do nothing to enhance the gameplay.
Supposedly, it will drastically alter the way you fly, since different space ships will fly better/worse in atmo than in 'The Cold Hard Vacuum', thus changing your idea on what 'the best' ship is for planetside work, altering the dynamic in PvE and PvP combat, giving you new dimensions to the game and new reasons for griding to get different ships, etc etc etc... Star Citizen is supposed to be doing the same, which I imagine is why all their ships look more like jet fighters on steroids than actual spaceships.

It will massively impact the ships as they don't really have aerofoils. I wonder if they'll have purchaseable aerofoils to make atmospheric flight easier?

I imagine it will depend on how well the thrusters can be balanced, sort of Harrier VTOL/Drone flying kind of principle, maybe... ?
Harriers make use of aerofoils once they're in flight though. Thrusters will be really inefficient in the atmosphere so will use a lot of fuel I reckon.

Who knows if they're even going to implement atmospheric flight at this point, I really hope they do but... FDEV being FDEV.
