*** The Official Elite: Dangerous Thread ***

Fleet carriers. Oooh, now that sounds interesting.
Will these be player buyable, or only for groups? Any ideas on cost and capabilities?

Player Squadrons, i.e. 'Guilds', will be able to purchase them. The sense I got is that they are like a flying space station but what they look like who knows! All I know is that I want one! :)

If you want to add something a little different to the game, this is worth checking out.

The install instructions aren't great, but it's easy enough.
Once set up your Cere account, under Cerecloud tab, click register account & it'll send you an email. That contains the account name/password that you need to enter into the Settings.Ini in the programs folder.

Recommend setting that file to read only once done, as it's reset a couple of times for me.

Can also change volume or remove static, beeps etc.

No. But I way I interpreted it is as follows:
You can never roll below the minimum you have achieved at the Grade you are rolling at. Example:
You roll +11% (Range +10% - +20%) on the Power Capacity for a Grade 5 Overcharged Power Plant. You apply the Mod.
You Re-roll and get +10%. This is worse than your current Mod so it is bumped to up to +12% as it is below +20%.

I thought it could be something like that but that would mean everyone would just get god rolls eventually by rolling multiple times. I'm not too sure what else it could mean though.

It's not everything that is coming but yeah, I can dig that - no new big thing on the planetary scale. I suspect part of the reason for a new lighting model etc for current planets is to get it ready for the atmosphere worlds later on; i.e. they could probably do atmosphere now but it would look like trash and there is that other space sim in production that people will compare it with. Just a theory, but it makes sense to me anyway.

That definitely makes sense to me - Maybe atmospheric worlds will be ready for 2019, fingers crossed!

If you bought ED on Fdev store, you can relive the past.
You get Elite (1984)for free :D

Now, if only they'd give us Frontier: Elite II I could continue where I left off.

Is that the one with the cheat. I think if you filled up a large craft with mining gear. then self destructed You got your cobra but still had the mining gear in the hold meaning you had a cobra with 400+ tons of cargo hold. Type 7 Military drives here I come..............

No idea, but will try it if I eventually get around to playing it ;)

I'm more used to Elite Frontier II on Amiga than any of the others, including ED :p

Welp, back in the bubble, decided to head to SOL to finally check the place out & found that I'm marked as Hostile. No idea why, but not amused :/

Was confused when saw some planetary body I didn't know name of, turns out they've added minor stuff too.

Is there an easy way to navigate the Galaxy Map

I'm following an exploration quide and its giving me systems to check out and scan. The problem is they are very rarely the next system over so i have to type it into the search. Some of which are a pain to spell and type especially as you have to be exact with spaces and Hyphen's etc

Guys, I've just got a vive is this worth it?

Read some underwhelming and disappointing reviews on Steam saying the game feels a bit empty once you've got past the initial wow bit etc.

Check twitch, few stream with VR on there. One I recall is Malic.
Fairly sure there's an Elite Dangerous VR thread on here too somewhere.

There are a few things to note:
1.you will need a hotas (something like the tflight x will set you back about £30 and is fine)
2. It has a fairly steep learning curve while you get to grips with the controls and how the galaxy works, but then it's fine.
3. It's a great VR game as you can spend a lot of time tooling around and generally doing whatever you like. It is a really great VR experience and motion sickness is very minor (although you might find driving SRVs on bumpy planet surfaces a bit intense at first).
4. Yes, if you're all about he end game, it gets a bit grindy. If you want a cool space to spend time in VR, then you won't be grinding, you'll just be flying about doing stuff. Generally you'll be getting credits for new ships though to keep you motivated.

In short, yes it's worth getting if you want a game to spend a couple hours a night playing in VR without the effort of jumping around swinging your arms about (not always a bad thing, but sometimes you've had a long day at work and would rather explore the galaxy from your chair).

Greatly summarized, so I can't play this game with Xbox pad?

Sounds ideal to me, part of the reason I got VR was to escape a bit sometimes.

I play with M&KB with ease, seen others only use controller. Plenty use HOTAS too.
It's all down to what you like.
I imagine HOTAS probably makes more sense in VR though.
