Quince used to be amazing for grinding Empire rank. If you are looking for ascension missions try an Empire systsem that you are allied with and its controlling faction is Empire alligned.

Yep, I'm Still Duke with the Imperials, Rank stays once you earn it, Probably around a days grind away from being Rear Admiral with the Federation, I don't think it would be a good gameplay decision to lock players into 1 faction like that given you would be cut off from quite a few ship purchases.

Is it me or is really a slog to get to duke?

Yup, can be. Try passenger missions. Look for a system with a number of large starports and imperial factions that give a large number of missions to a couple of systems then make it your home for awhile and simply pack out your largest ship with economy class passenger cabins then sale on up the stations packing in passengers like sardines (so no passenger missions with a crown - that also means you won't need a heat sink as you won'd get any missions with requirements such as 'secretive').

So currently have more credits than I can possibly spend and am going to build a fully engineered medium combat specialist, would you go FAS, FDL or Python? Jump distance will be mostly irrelevant as when using it I will mostly be single system based.

I went to HIP 8444 and did nothing but data missions to HIP 8758 and donation missions, Managed to grind out from rank zero to duke within 20'ish hours.
20 HOURS?!?! No way!
Never done data missions how do they work exactly?

Just don't mate the cutter is by far the worst ship to fly in the game.
Damn, is it? Others said it was a pleasure to fly?

I've never heard anyone call the cutter a pleasure to fly. A space whale, truck, airliner etc yes but a pleasure? Said no one ever. You know how you can miss the mail slot some times with an anaconda? With a cutter you can miss the whole station.

Well certainly whenever I searched imperial cutter on youtube, people don't seem to have anything bad to say about it!

And worse than the conda when it comes to the mail slot? Dang....
So what else should I focus on then?

It has far worse agility than the conda. If you want something shiny and feel like grinding try the corvette.

Yep 20 hours, I kept accepting data missions at HIP 8444 to HIP 8758, Then board hop, Logout to the main menu to refresh the mission boards, Take as many data missions as I could then go deliver them to HIP 8758, Really simple, Rinse and repeat for 20 hours straight with donation missions on the side as well, Donated around 300 mill by the end.

I'm still a novice when it comes to flying but I've never missed the mail slot and I do manual only, Comes down to personal preference, For example, I really don't like the feel of the Anaconda but love the Cutter.

Ok I think I see what you mean about HIP8444.

Is it Bliss Base that you go to?

Ooh interesting. How come it works like that I wonder?

Can't wait to try this out tonight. I've just amassed 360m and I'm at Lord.

Based on what you said it seems I'm going to lose most of that on the charity payment missions :( and here I was hoping to get a cutter straight after :(

You'd be better off running passenger missions, it might take a little longer but you'll amass a decent wedge of credits for outfitting at the same time.
