*** The Official Elite: Dangerous Thread ***

well I daren't even log in with my 770gtx >.< desperately seeking a new card - fat chance of that lately :*( I'm good to go even with a 6700xt as they're all in stock but I just can't justify the extra £300, but hey that's for another thread :D:D

I haven't managed to buy the update yet as I see little point especially as those with high end cards are struggling with frame rate, I hope they sort out the Horizons out gubbins so I can at least get out in the black and do some truckin' :p

I could put up with the poor FPS (around 30 with SLI 1080s) and still get some enjoyment out of Odyssey, but the random CTD every 10 minutes is another story! Will see what future fixes bring.

I didn't think it supported SLI? I did love sli back in the day wish it was supported more in modern titles. It'd be great to get two older cards and put them together to tide us over till the GPU crisis buggers off

Odyssey specifically? I have been playing Horizons fine for years, but only now with Odyssey do I have issues.

I am utterly astonished why fdev even released this game yet we have Brabben saying sorry etc etc. He knew full well the state of the game yet he let out go. No excuses, I hope your company suffers and ends up being sold to EA for a pittance then in another 2 years disappears to the Dev graveyard only to remembered of the abortion that was elite dangerous.

Wow.... I mean.... Wow
I would hate to spill your pint.

Mistakes happen,

Unless you kept knocking over my pint on purpose & fully aware you was doing, I would proceed to cut off your elbow skin with a pair of sharp scissors.

A quick query: the current install of ED Horizons is 21GB, the ED Odyssey install is listed at 75Gb. Is this because at the moment the Odyssey version of ED is installed alongside Horizons, or it is installed over Horizons and just has significantly more resource files (3D models and textures for suits/weapons/bases/space station interiors, audio and video files related to the new content)?

And is it likely that in the future Odyssey will be included in the default ED install in the same way Horizons was, making it impossible to download ED without the Odyssey content?

My install folder currently shows 68.6GB with 49GB in the odyssey folder and 19.5GB in horizons install so yes, because it sits alongside, should not be anything stopping you from removing the non-odyssey file though.

As for your second point, it's likely but not for a good few years at the earliest if and I reckon it's a big if right now, FD continue to support Elite, but their plan is to update Horizons with the new planetary tech when it launches for consoles in six months (lol... like that is going to happen...).

I bought this when it came out and never played it, is it worth jumping in now?
Always worth trying, but maybe start with the standard version and see how you get on, or even Horizons if you have it already. But don't buy Odyssey yet as its still unplayable for many.

Sorry dude I always assumed SLI on Elite simply disables one of your cards, which seems to be verified with a quick Google check
I disabled one card today in NVIDIA control panel and it seems to have worked, no crashes since playing Odyssey :)

Wow, seriously? Has it really affected you that badly? Surely, as someone that plays and enjoys Elite Dangerous, the last thing you'd actually want is for the company to be sold to EA so that the game disappears? Oh no wait, you don't actually play the game and all you do is bash it whenever you can. Why do you bother coming back into this thread when you're not actively playing the game and all you've got for it is hate? I really don't see the point.

Back on topic, I've been holding off on getting Odyssey, but the videos make me really want to get it. I'd love to be able to land my Corvette on a planet and then have a walk around it to get the full sense of the scale of it all. I've got loads of other games to get through right now though, especially with Valheim, an Xbox and Game Pass so it'll be awhile yet. Hopefully by the time I do get around to it, the issues will be sorted!

Since I fixed my crash issue its actually quite playable now. Sure, it lags a bit in the rooms on fire, some quests are broken (items/targets not where they are supposed to be etc) and there are some silly bugs (cant turn on flashlight when crouching, cant get dropship out of conflict zone sometimes), but other than that its stable and quite fun, in a typically Elite grindy sort of way.

Effected me not in the slightest, however Devs and publisher's pull this same stunt of releasing clearly 100% broken games. A simple meaningless statement from CEO or community manager and life goes on regardless.

lol, if EA buy it you'll probably find any docking fees at the space stations will be for real-world money.
