*** The Official Elite: Dangerous Thread ***

If you were premium beta or earlier then it should be linked to you account, launch Normal from steam and it shows up in the launcher.
Weird bug for me in the launcher install was greyed out but pressing enter set it downloading.
Took a long time though it just finished and i have meetings in the morning so im not going to get to play tonight.

Well ill be flipping damned. Pressing enter did it. How bloody bizzare, thanks House. Would have never figured that out.

Just been playing it on my geforce 1060 and safe to say the system requirements are literally outright lies

Unless you consider 20fps in the on foot sections acceptable. It dropped to under 8fps when there was fire on screen in the tutorial mission!

That's running at 1080p low! Horizons ran fine at 1440p/high! This is barely any better then the alpha :(

I just fired it up, I'm on a 2070 @ 5120x1440. Horizon ran great.

This runs like pap. I put settings down to medium, and it was still <20 fps.

Guess I'm parking Elite (again) until I get new GPU....so next year.

Edit : is it just the FPS stuff that's horrible performance wise? I didn't get as far as getting into a ship...

Space ship performance is much the same as for Horizons for me, but I do take a hit when in first person too... (If anything FPS was actually slightly better for me in Odyssey's Alpha 4, and seems to have regressed a little here.)

I'm 3440 x 1440 on an RTX 3090 and i7-10700k - settings are all Ultra or highest available, and 1.25 SS - I lock FPS at 120 for flying, and generally sit around there. On foot I get a max of about 90, and it went below 50 in the tutorial when I came to the parts of the base which were on fire (fire really seems to tank the FPS on this for some reason.)

I'll have a go at the flying part again later, but I think the FPS part is a writeoff for now, shame.

I've completely lost any desire to faff with stock alerts so I'm resigned to sitting on my 2070 for a while. Not a bad card at least, just can't crank up MSFS and elite the way I'd like to @5120x1440.

I haven't bought Odyssey, but went for a quick spin for the first time in a LONG time. Couldn't really see any differences to the spaceflight side of things.
Has anything really changed?

No, until the game releases on the consoles in the Autumn there will be no changes whatsoever to Horizons at all, even if you have Odyssey. They're basically two separate games for now.

finally got chance to try it out ran through the tutorial and the servers are down.

FPS was as bad as in alpha, my 1080 is really showing its age here.

My 2070 is on it's knees in the FPS sections.

I like the new renderer, the spaceflight and stations and planets do look better....performance is ok in all the old stuff.

The FPS stuff is just a hard pass from me with the current performance. Maybe if they added a second graphics settings profile so you could get a decent framerate.....but meh.

It's a complete mess, everybody who defended the alpha because 'it's an alpha' have been proven categorically wrong lol. Reviews on steam are now mostly negative and they are not just single line review bombs. FD have never been good at releases but I think this one has got to be one of the worst for them. I wonder how long it'll be before we see some new community managers as the current ones leave due to the **** show.

I briefly caught yamiks stream yesterday and could not believe the FPS he was getting.
I was never going to preorder or order day one as I remember Horizons all too well. Looking at what was happening yesterday I am not sure there will be a quick fix to this.
They should have delayed the launch and done a lot more testing. 30 FPS on a 2080ti in a busy area is just not acceptable in any PC game. Especially one with the lack of detail that is elite.

DLC getting absolutely bombed on Steam. Haha. I'd say I was surprised, but ever since the DLC was announced I had zero confidence in it being good.
