Since I was doing cargo anyway, and I could afford, I just put my asp explorer in storage, bought a type 9, and filled it to the brim with cargo bays. I can carry 720 cargo now instead of 60. But it will take me 10 jumps instead of 2 to get back to Alcor. So I'm not sure it's actually that more efficient. Plus I just had an interdiction attempt on me and only just evaded it with this lumbering thing.

So I might just sell this thing again when I arrive. :D

OK, so he's gone into open play, gotcha.

not quite

im in a private session with another player

communications panel > players > add to wing

then in the mission panel at the docking station, look for the blue symbol bottom left of the images of the missions, those are wing missions

if it says 5 million, you BOTH get 5 million :)
well worth doing !

thats the problem when its fully laden, you need to maximise your FSD

if you can engineer it, even better

Well I did two runs and made 15M. But I'm selling it now. Not fun to fly. And I got it caught up in the station airlock a couple of times too. :o

EDIT: Make that one more trip while I wait for them to deliver my Asp back to Alcor. Hadn't realised there was a delay.

EDIT2: Boo! Someone cleaned out my chosen station so I've only got 120 tons on this trip.

And to hark back to the earlier points about improving your reputation with the local factions, if you have maximum rep you will from time to time get a "fetch" wing mission with a 50 million reward.

If you have two or three in your wing for such a mission, sharing the cost, you can easily each clear 30-40 million for the mission.

sounds interesting these Thargoid vessels.

Well, if when i get killed
:p

Just to clarify a little, there are two things you can do in the systems being invaded.

One is to fight Thargoid scouts, but honestly I'm not sure you're properly equipped for that yet, in terms of your ship, weapons and (probably) your progress on engineering. By all means give it a go, but you might want to leave any expensive modules behind to minimise your rebuy costs :D

The second, which is what I was mainly suggesting, is doing the rescue missions from the burning stations in those systems. Those don't require actually fighting Thargoids, but they are a truly fantastic experience, and especially so in VR.

One other thing about the rescue missions (which I agree are definately worth doing) - if you haven't already got the hang of it, practice manual docking before you go as a docking computer doesn't work in a damaged station.

While we talk about game modes, it's worth adding only in solo mode one can take a high resolution screenshot. Default shortcut alt+F10 iirc.
I think it's 8k.

I'll add to this scouts have 66% damage reduction against standard human weapons. Some stations have ax weapons on sale - check experimental weapons.

If caustic damage is applied to you - constant corrosion to the hull - the only viable option to get rid of it is to overheat to 200%. The other means are to land in a station or use decontamination limpet - the last one not likely to be equipped with for a fight.

Any tips for fun stuff to do planet side? I've done a bit of roaming around in my SRV. One or two "scan the data point before you get done for trespassing" missions. But none of it seemed very interesting. What am I missing?
