*** The Official Elite: Dangerous Thread ***

The filepath in my post wasn't my install directory, but the location of all the optional user-specific stuff like keybinds, graphics settings, etc. I only mentioned that I installed via Steam because I had no idea if other installers might set a different location for the user's config settings.

Did you check the equivalent location on your PC?

this is the only other one i could find

Just seen the various bits of news around the ingame events, and thought I could jump in on the action. A quick look around suggests that to create an anti-Thargoid ship you need to grind to get the various Guardian weapons - as the normal ones are ineffective. Is that the case, or is that old news that's been rebalanced since earlier releases. Would be a real shame if the this new content is effectively locked behind a huge amount of grinding.

i dont have an options folder though :)
(see above pic)

You're not in the appdata/local folder though. By default the appdata folder is hidden in windows. Type %appdata% in the address bar in explorer and press return. That will put you in the "roaming" sub folder. Go up one level and you will see three folders, one of which is called local. The frontier folder is in there. Note there are two them for some reason, only one of them has the bindings folder as per the file path in my previous post

You can go to rescue ships and buy weapons against them now, I just need to know how effective they against normal ships

The AX weapons have been rebalanced with this patch, they should be reasonably effective against both Thargoid and Human targets but no where near as good as specialised weapons in either case, I need to sort my entire setup out with a new set of keybindings (new HOTAS) so it'll be a while before I get to test anything sadly.

Quick tip if playing on the Steam Deck....

Don't put it to sleep then try and play it again (without exiting to desktop), it will let you load into the game, I was parked in a station and tried to exit and it crashed my ship twice :(

14 mill credits down the drain, hoping FD support will right my wrongs :(

its back working again today

i'll ask here as Frontier looks like they wont reply to my tweet

I'm on horizons, if i "installed" the latest version (non odyssey) will all my ships etic be carried over , or do i have to start again ?
I believe they have essentially taken a snapshot. And applied it to both versions.... They then run separately from the Split

Treat it as 2 saved games

ok thanks

so if i do say 100 hours in one, that 100 hours won't be on the other one?
so i need to choose now then?
Correct, from yesterday forward anything done on one won't happen in the other - make a million credits in live, you'll have to do it again in legacy.

You don't need to choose but, if you have limited time available to play, then yes you probably want to concentrate on one or the other. Proabably live if you want to follow the stories or do community goals.

It does create the opportunity to follow a different path in each - as if you'd bought two copies of the game so you could have two separate commanders on the go at once. Depends where you are at and what you still want to achieve.

Indeed a utter utter mess, they needed to introduce new weapons that was available to everyone that also bypassed the stupid heart mechanic.

How could they have cocked this game up so so much.

Have played since launch, and have played Elite since the BBC-B. But I've given up on Elite now. There's simply far too much grind required to just simply play the game.
