Back in love with the Viper. I like dogfighting too much. Picked up about 150k in bounties for the past hour just hanging around at a nav beacon.

You need to find yourself a compromised Nav Beacon dude... I got 500k in 30 mins from taking on wings of three...

Just how the **** do you get the exterior camera to work? Every time that I CTRL+ALT+SPACE the external view is barely controllable. It seems to be the same as quite a few of the game's 'features', sort of half implemented and then forgotten.

trouble is if you want to play the addon "Horizons" as that is still at full price (£40 iirc) and comes with the base game. If you are happy not to have the planetary landings then yes £10 is the cheapest you can get it.

£10 discount is still in effect if you own base game and purchase Horizons through the FD store. Base game is only a tenner there too.

I didn't like the orangey hue of the galactic core. It's quite amazing what effect altering just two small numbers in an xml file can have.

Between me converting the screenshot.bmp files to png and uploading to Imgur the Image quality has taken a slight hit, but you get the idea though. It looks top notch in motion in-game.

Got seriously annoyed yesterday to the point of having to log out of the game for a while.
Have been working on long distance smuggling (330LY range) from Fehu and the NPCs are just driving me nuts.
Don't get me wrong, I understand the point of the police trying to stop me, what I find to be less acceptable are:
- NPCs trying to give you a mission and despite being in a Eagle, follow me for NINETEEN jumps, when I'm in an Asp with a 24LY jump range and big fuel tanks
- Was interdicted in the target system by an Anaconda from...100LS.
- Had a system security Viper follow me to the target location of the space station I was going to. Just before I dropped from Supercruise he was 30LS away. In the time it took for me to get docking permission, he'd managed to somehow emergency brake into the system and was trying to scan me from 1km.
Just WTF...
Again, I get that these missions shouldn't be easy, but having NPC ships capable of doing things that a player owned ship cannot do is just frankly BS and needs fixing.

I really love Elite and want it to be great, but this type of thing drives me nuts.

Oh yes, the AI needs a serious overhaul.

Yesterday I was killing random 'wanted' ships in a RES when a gang of system security show up and decide to target my target too. Well, one of the 'tards decided to ram me and knock my shields out and another thought it a good idea to fly straight through my stream of fire causing me to hit him and gain a bounty and a 'wanted' status.

Then, once the current target had been despatched, I get scanned by one of his buddies who then proceeds to attack me which causes the rest to do likewise.

Completely agree. I am doing these missions currently and I have learnt to just get on with it. I am making 8-15Mil per 400Ly run

Just made a 1.4M Cr error. Sat waiting for docking. Watching a film on monitor two. Some chap framed in and shot me while I was (essentially) AFK. I won't be doing that again!!

My own fault of course. But I hope he went and wacked one off straight after. GGEasy

Yep, NPCs cheat big time. AI is one of the area the game is lacking in. They had an "AI programmer" for a while, but I'm not sure who is going it now. Nothing has really improved since release apart from pathing inside stations (where they used to crash constantly).

Recently got back into the game this last week.

I was combat bond fighting in systems near Eravate which was yielding me about 1 million an hour. Bought a type-6 to try trading and I just didn't get it. I used the trade tool to plot a decent bi-route but the margins were just so low. Do you need to have a massive ship for this to be something work doing?

I'd need about 500hours of combat bond fighting to buy an Anaconda! :P There has to be a quicker way, I just can't find it.

The game is currently £10 on steam, is this for the full lot or will I want dlc and stuff?

The £10 version contains 90% of what you'll be doing...right now.
If you pay for Horizons, the only real thing you'll see at the moment is the ability to land on planets. Frankly, it's not a big deal, though it is nice and highly immersive.
The key point is that Horizons doesn't unlock just the new stuff right now. It's the new stuff for the next 12 months, which is planned to include other things.

My suggestion is that you try the base version for say 2-3 weeks, if you like it (and you might not), then buy Horizons so you can have the "icing on the cake" that's right now, then for free get the real meat that we should be expecting during 2016.
