What does everyone here use to play videos (in divx/avi format) from their local network?

I've tried AirVideo which so far has impressed but at my home server is fairly low powered and not suited for video transcoding on the fly. If there anything like VLC that can play avi without converting but from a remote source?

Cheers.

Oplayer

It can stream from an FTP server and does the transcoding on the device.
Currently it's not fully optimised as it will stream but will get jumpy and slow if it can transcode quick enough. Simple solution isnjust to leave it coding for a min or two before starting to play.
That said you can use it to download to your phone/ipod via wifi and supports a wide range of file types.
Maybe check it out :)

Guys, I've got streaming to my iPad for my videos and music sorted, what about pictures, what's the best app for that?

Also is there anyway that when I'm 'on the move' is there any easy way of getting my iPhone to send pictures to my WIFI? Is this only possible when connected to a wireless network? If so what app for this?

i posted this in a hardware thread but it might be applicable to you:

If your on a wireless network you can use 'Simple Transfer'

I just got this last night to transfer all my photos and videos from my iphone4 to me ipad2.
It transfers the files in 100% quality/resolution.
It copied over 1100 photos and 40 720p videos in no time (30mins)

Universal app. only £1.19 if I remember correctly.

Definitely worth it!

Thats is just a wifi app, but i was looking around last night and there are a few apps that do wifi transfers like the one mentioned above, or there are bluetooth transfer options.

having a quick look in the app store there is an app 'Photo Transfer App' which does both transfer methods but will only allow upto 100 photos to be transferred at a time. thats £1.79
Or there's 'PhotoSync' exactly the same, both methods, £1.19.

Basically just do a search for 'photo transfer' in the app store.
There are many apps that can do the same thing for the same price range, just down to personal preference and other customer reviews.

Hope that was a tiny bit helpful

Thanks for that. Very helpful, I always forget about Bluetooth!

Thats the iPhone to iPad transfer sorted now just need to be able to stream pictures to my iPad from my Laptop! Any ideas on that one?

Ahh thats what I forgot to mention!

Most if not all the good(ish) ones will do device to device transfers as I stated, but they can do device to computer or computer to device.

If your computer has bluetooth that can be used, or for faster transfer the wifi network can be used :)

again, hope that answers your question.

Procreate is free today, it's a cool digital painting app which supports multiple layers.

Very good looking app and is reduced from $7.99 so probs £5.99.
Check it out, only around 5mb

:)

Guys, how the he'll do I reply all on the mail app! I have searched google and can't find an answer.any help appreciated

Hit the reply button, if there are multiple recipients then you will have the option to reply to all, otherwise you wont.

Been playing 'Great Little War Game', turn based game in the style of Advanced Wars. Very good although there is a bug at present when running on iPad 2 (game locks up), dev is aware and has update due.

Guys is there any App that allows me to stream media off my NAS drive. I store all my vids/music etc on my network external drive so it would be good to be able to stream directly off this rather than through my Laptop.
