******* The "official" Essential iPad Apps thread (with stars) *******

It is worth being aware that it does not support all features of the dock format at least. Not sure what other formatting might be lost but it does not seem to support equations, for example.

None of them do at the minute which is a shame. But Pages is certainly the easiest one to use. :)

For those of you put off by Final Fantasy 3's £9.99 price tag, don't be. I'm just over 10 hours in so far and this game is worth every penny.

Not seen AVPlayerHD mentioned yet, it's great! Am playing 720p MKVs on my ipad no problem. You can send videos to the ipad via wifi without using itunes as well.

Out of interest is AVPlayerHD able to keep it's videos from being included in the Backup that iTunes does? That's the most annoying bit.

No, unfortunately they are classed as app storage. So after syncing 20GB of movies over to your iPad, iTunes then spend an age backing them up to your PC. :(

Not sure if it's been mentioned yet but Galaxy on Fire 2 is pretty good. Quite emersive and like all Elite clones has a reasonable replay factor.

Does anyone know if there's a good (if possible free) app that I could use as a remote for my Htpc? Splash top could work, but I've been told it reduces the res of the pc to that of the iPad. Anyone have any ideas?

Been trying Splashbox, thoughts so far:-

1) No inbuilt WOL feature
2) Swapping between user accounts on remote mac causes Splashbox to screw up with a 'connection failure message'

At least I picked it up in the sale so only a quid wasted.
