The *Official* Eve Online Thread

Been anything actually new about capitals talked about yet? sucks that some of the ideas seem good on paper but the execution (or what has been published so far) tramples horridly on anyone actually invested into their capitals upto now.

EDIT: Ah that is on Friday.

Dunno if anyone else got it as well - had an email invite for an expense paid trip to a focus group/dev thing on capitals but can't make the dates anyhow.

So we're getting pirate faction capitals/supers.

new implants such as shield buffer, and active armour, capacitor (dont know specifics) and logistics cycle times amongst a few others.

There is intent to allow meta 5+ guns/launcher to use T2 ammo making them pretty powerful.

Fleet link chances will be similar to super carrier debuffs, coming in summer.

Everyone Is pretty stoked about dreads and FAXes, though carriers leave somewhat to be desired, that said their range projection is utterly insane.

Most in my WH corp are looking to convert their carriers to FAXs bar a few for experimentation purposes.

I still don't get their carrier execution - the ideas for fighter platforms and force auxiliaries are great but they seem to completely not understand why and how people are using carriers now and converting carriers based on triage module being fitted, etc. like they are doing is a really really nasty way of implementing the change on top of that.

I tuned into the stream earlier and it was a massive whinge about off grid links so I stopped watching it lol...

Links are being changed so idk why people are whinging.

Carriers as far as WHs go don;t appear to have any use, their DPS is too low to justify their mass. A few dudes are keeping them in home out of interests sake and maybe to test a few use-cases defensively, but ultimately as far as WH space is concerned the new fighter carrier is useless given its huge mass cost.

What dont you get? if you want a fax you fit your carrier with a triage and you get one. If you want a combat carrier you just dont fit triage on patch day.

Otherwise it would take years for alliances to reach current triage saturation.

Think you are kind of missing what I mean - a lot of people have worked towards/utilise carriers for reasons far more varied than fighter combat or triage and now they are just stamping over that and push people into one of 2 specialised areas and while I have nothing against those features as additions in their own right there is a lot more lost than gained by their implementation and direction.

Ok, looking for a buddy trial (21-day I think), to give this a whirl.

Tried it once before but felt totally lost, but loved the whole premiss of the game & the scope. Looking to stream the game too, so will need some advice & help in chat or on my Discord too.

Anyone wanting to send over a buddy code?
Any tips for a total newb Corp?

Just got home from Fanfest. Exhausting week!

Yuh looks that way, CCP really shoving Valkyrie down throats.

Shock horror, CCP pushing their newest title that actually happens to be an absolute cracking game?

Carrier/Fax changes. Pretty happy here, whilst the outright dps of the Carriers might not be stunning they have lots of utility and can apply it well, unlike dreads that will still require support do get anywhere close to their peak dps figures. Undecided how it will play out in WH space right now, all 3 wh-capable capital classes have pros and cons to them. Hopefully we'll get a nice mix.

Ganglink changes sound awesome - long time coming. Not longer being reliant on fleet structure is handy.

Wonder what the duration will be on them - not that it matters much to me any more but if its a long duration might as well keep off grid boosting if its a short duration its gonna make applying links tedious.

From memory Fozzie suggested a 5 minute cycle time, with the affect lasting a little longer than that to give some leeway. Idea being that if you are within the AOE when it starts you keep the boost even if you move away, so you will still sort of be able to do some offgrid boosting then warping combat ships in, but having your Command Ships on field is going to be more important.

That actually appeals to me. I love command ships, but there was no point bringing them along on a fleet only to be told to keep them off Grid. If they need to be on Grid, then there's some skill required in staying alive and keeping everyone boosted.
Not sure it appeals enough to return to the game though. Will check again when it's implemented.

A few people have mentioned the Kronos as a mission boat so I'd be interested in your setups. The test server has dropped a bundle of skill injectors into every's redeemable items so I've finished the training for the Kronos and would like to try some fits before I'm able to fly it for real in a few months. It would be nice to have a good useable fit all ready to go!

I shared my fit in-game, didn't you save it?

I don't disagree with them plugging it at all as you say it is new and a future they are passionate about and have invested in heavily it seems.

Just as a player watching the streams I felt it was a lot of

THIS IS HAPPENING IN VALK

and afterthoughts of

oh, and this is whats happening in eve..

I wanted to know far more about the hot topics and politics. The citadels, carrier/capital changes and changes to Fozzie sov. A discussion on gambling within the game would have been interesting too.

The hours that were on those subjects were informative, just the reaction to the announcements and what is going on in eve currently was very played down on twitch.

A reaction, discussion or a thought on the CSM elections wasn't even in there and it was what I was most looking forward to! :(

It all seemed to be left unspoken with the silence filled with talk of the new game and overly produced cheesy rock music. :p

Here you go,

Not sure on streaming im afraid. But can certainly give you guiding tips in the OcUK channel in game on getting started with eve.

Just created the account, hopefully if I manage to survive past the 21 days & sub, then you might get a little kick back.

Onwards & upwards - Streaming some Noob gameplay on my Twitch channel soon. :)

Everyone feel free to drop by - point & laugh at my mistakes or alternatively offer some good advice :D

Just never ever ever undock with PLEX in cargo ever.

The 2 items you never undock with are plex and skill injectors, both can be used remotely and just.. dont do it.

I highly suggest you take a cheap ship, go out into lowsec and die, get it over with before you build up the fear!

Agreed with Jack. Do not get into High Sec playing if you want the game to be its MOST fun. Null/Low is where it is at.

My advice would be to join the high-sec incursion group warp2me or something similar for a few months and train the basic skill points and the techniques (anchoring, orbiting etc.)

Then move into Null. Do not fear these places, dying is part of the game.

Read the current politics and find the right alliance when you do move > 0.5. These corporations are sometimes part of massive fights or they might not do much of what you want.

Do not shy away from PVP though. So.Much.Fun.
