Hi,

Just to clear things up (sorry for the confusion). Its Gallante Industrial Ship V im trying to train, not Industry V. Its a Rank 4 skill. Now that i've got 4 learning skills to level 3 and starting to get one to 4 its cut my learn time to 39 days. Im hoping if i get all of the skills to 4 it may be down to around the 30 days mark, its still a long time, but half of what it was orginally going to take.
Weren't you originally training so you could fly a barge? If so you don't need Gallente Industrial at all, only Industry level 5. Gallente Industrial is the skill for haulers and transport ships.

EDIT: And raymears extremesurvival's forum name is giSh^uK

Hi guys, bit of an update and a question if you dont mind.

I now have an incursus with triple 150mm rails with iridium charges and am mining gold omber in obalyu. I am jettisoning my cargo, filling that container and then doing shuttle runs to the container to sell my product. It's working quite well and i can haul 70000isk quite quickly. Also my rails make short work of pirates in the 0.6 system im in.

I was thinking....would it be worth my buying an iteron to do my shuttling? I have trained gallente industrial now and have 200000isk so obviosuly i will need to do some saving, but would it be worth it?

Thanks L

Yup.. pretty much. Thats how I used to run Twirrim back in my empire mining days. Mine a can full, then dock and return in an iteron to haul the loot away. You can juggle for yourself whether you prefer Expanded Cargohold Is in lows or nanofibers (one adds cargo space at cost of speed, t'other reduces cargohold but increases speed / time to warp.)
Whatever setup you use I'd suggest you stick a 75mm gatling railgun on it with a full round of antimatter s in it. That'll handle most rats in 0.6 space, or at least any tackling frigates (do they tackle in empire?)

I have a second account now that handles most haulage duties for me, along with production and stuff.

The aspect of corp theft makes the game much more entertaining in my opinion. You have to be especially careful who you trust with your things and you aren't protected by the developer as in other MMORPGs.

The thing that gets me is that there is absolutely nothing you can do to prevent it happening, and once it's happened, there's absolutely nothing you can do to get it back.

You'll eventually get bored of eve, i did! i sold my 19mill SP character on the eve forums for just under 3 billion isk. I then sold the isk on ebay and made over £400. It was "fun" for like 3mins in the beginning then i had to mine to afford to buy anything, and wait wait for skills to train *YAWN*

Well... guess that pretty much covers the entirety of Eve then. Mining?!?
I spend probably less than an hour a month mining, and thats only if I'm bored. The only time I ever do more than that is if the corp is running short of minerals and organise a corp mine (for which I get paid.) Without even touching a mining laser I can make more money in an hour in 0.0 space than most empire miners. I don't mine, because like you, I find it boring as hell.

Did you not even attempt to get out into 0.0 space? Join an alliance that holds decent space rather than the carebear empire space (which after all was only supposed to exist as a training ground)? Participate in PvP?

Until you've played the game, and I mean all aspects, don't write it off as being a one sided, boring game.

Lol, It was fun for like "3 mins" yet you had a 19m sp char... begs the question why you carried on playing for a year and a half.

Theft blows, simple as. On a different subject..... I decided to try a brutix out, dispite being advised against it in the OcUK channel due to fiting issues. Damn thing got blown out from under me fairly quickly, and that's with 1600mm crys plates, and armour hardeners. Had 2K shields, 5.5k armour, and it lasted well while the cap lasted but ..... Lost it on a level 3 mission to 3 commanders :(

Lesson learned... don't try and punch over your skills, it's better to fly something smaller until your skill levels make the bonuses worthwhle.

Back to my trusty if cramped Thorax.

hehehehe,
Brutix i think is a good alrounder, makes for a nice miner replacement for an Apoc, as you can buy about 3 Brutix for the price of 1 Apoc. so 14 miner 2 extra. its only limit is that its turret and drone based and has no missile hard points :( I think something like the Minmatar is a better all rounder for combat or perhaps the Caldari BC (5 missile hard points).

all depends really i feel. i like the range of missiles. though i mainly like turrets 1 or 2 missile hard points dont go ammis. if nothing else you should be able to fit smart bombs in the missile hard points (for those close encounters of another kind).

Think is, If I'm going to do the whole mining thing, I'll use my Vex. I can get almost 1K cargo space with extenders fitted, and 4 miner II's work fast enough for me.

Did my first gang assist yesterday, and was pleasantly surprised to see I got a bounty from the kills that were made. A question on Gang mining though. If I'm doing the mining, and someone else is doing the hauling, when they drop off the ore at a station, is it allocated equally to each gang member, or does it effectively become the property of the hauler, and have to be allocated later?

To re-iterate: Guns > Turrets :p

About the only use for Turrets on a ship might be for Defender missiles if you're up against missile firing rats, but even then real damage would be preferable. I fight in a Domi with 250mm IIs, which gives me about a 40km range (optimal + falloff) whilst using Antimatter, even the 250mm Is give around 37km. There is little in the way of NPC rats I can't hit at that range. In fact the only one sticking out in my mind are NPC Haulers that you fail to kill quickly...
I've just finished Medium Projectile Turret V with my main account, and projectiles hit even further for better DOT than hybrids, even if they do have a lower ROF.

The way we organise it in STK, and I believe its organised in OcUK too, every role is equally important, so we allocate an equal share of the mined goods to each participant.

So it's not done automatically then... ok, blows my idea of forming a mining party with 'random toon with a hauler' out of the window then.

The only reason you'll find Projo's hit harder than hybrids is you are shooting angels that have exp as their lowest resi.

In the world of PvP hybrids are probably the best as they hit the two "average" damage types for both shield and armor, unlike energy which hits EM and therm, when it comes to armor it's going to take a while longer.

Projo's can fire both EM and Exp, but it's a painstaking 10sec wait for the reload.

The only real use for missiles in PvP is station/pos battering or anti-tacklers. I've seen several times now a raven or scorp go up against a gun boat from 100km and die before it's missiles have hit (missiles also disappear when their parent boat does)
