The *Official* Eve Online Thread

slightly addicted to this at the moment spent all weekend playing it. Didn't even log onto wow once hehe.

Currently flying around in a merlin and wondering what next ship I should be aiming for. A cruiser maybe?

I'm Caldari so not sure what is next step up.

Only problem I find is I don't like researching stuff that takes an hour if I know I won't be able to log on and change it to something else.

Hook, line, and sinker :p

Your best bet would be to move up to a cruiser, destroyers just dont cut it imo. A caracal would be a good ship to move to as it can spit heavy missiles like a madman although it can cost about 5 million isk, its also a logical step to a Ferox which can be a missile or gun boat and tank very well. As for skills, i agree completely, if i cant be online i set something training that takes a long long time and change it back when i get back on.

Yeah I think I read somewhere else where someone recommended the same ship. It's great how complicated this game is as you actually feel like your learning stuff playing it.

Although the amount of stupid mistakes I have made makes me laugh. Done courier missions and left cargo at start, bought missile launchers oops not enough power to use them, bought four rail guns when I've only two hard points for them.

Think I best get saving up for that ship I've 2 mill isk so far I think. I just keep doing agent security missions they don't seem to pay off too bad.

LOL, im just mining away since i got back. Using my trusty Iteron MkIV with a miner 2, takes ages to fully load but its got just short of 10,000m3 capacity with a few basic cargo expanders. I've already bought my next 2 ships with the money i've made mining since i restarted the game. I've got an Iteron MKV sitting waiting for when Industrial Ship V finishes in around 20 days and also have an Ore Covetor sitting waiting for when i eventually (if ever get Mining Barge V learned). I got what i think were good deals on both hence why i've purched now. Also been looking at the Battlecruisers as i think i only need to learn one or two skills and it would probably take less time than learning Industrial Ship V. Is the Brutix a Battlecruiser ?, seem to remember that it is. I may buy one of those, although i dont have near the cash at the moment.

What kind of price does the Brutix sell for ? I may have enough to buy it, but i doubt i've enough to kit it out.

29-30m is a market price, but the mineral value is only about 26m. So if you mine the minerals and get hold of a BPC on escrow, you might be able to get someone in OcUK to build it for you and save a couple of mill. :)

I was planning on getting a Brutix but then I was advised to go straight on to the Dominix. So far I've mined a fair amount towards building the Brutix but I can just get more ( a lot more) and try to build a dominix.

However how soon will mining with a brutix cover the cost of itself? currently using a thorax with 5 miner II's would I actually get the minerals for a dominix sooner by spending all I have on getting a brutix and then mining with 7 miner II's for the dominix, or is it better to just carry on with the thorax until I reach the dominix target

for my skills:

eg scordite
5x miner II's = 5 x 72 ore units = 360ore = 480x5 = 2400 scord per min
7 miner II's = 7 x 72 ore units = 504 = 480x7 = 3360 scord per min

assuming a rough price of ~13 isk per unit of scord thats a difference of 31200isk - 43680isk = 12480isk per min..in say 30 hours thats ~22.5M
In 30 hours with the thorax I will have made ~56M

god I hate maths :|

anyway its all insignificant really as I will be mining different ores. However it seems to be that I will be better off going for the dominix first as I dont really want a brutix for any other reason than mining, id rather have my first battleship!

Tough one. The Brutix is a bit of a beast and is very handy for going through Level 3 missions. I was doing Angels and Guristas extravaganza in about 60-90 minutes, and they would net me 5m a time, and that's if I don't find any good items... I'd rather do missions than mine, but that's just me.

The thorax can do level 3's, but the harder ones you're going to need a big tank because it just can't mount a particularly good offense (you have to rely on your drones to do the damage, because you'll be packing frig guns...)

Its so confusing knowing which to go for :( If i was doing those level 3 missions that would mean getting 2.5M per hour more than mining. Then thats going to take about 5 hours of missions at least to pay off the brutix and get back on the earning for a dominix.

Whats more fun though? Having a brutix or a dominix

If you get your Brutix, then grind for a week doing a level 3 or two a day and then sell your Brutix, you'll probably have enough cash to get your Domi... now mineral base price of a dominix is about 62m ISK, unfortunately they seem to be on the market for 70m+ these days, as they are in high demand (they are basically a jack of all trades... superb ships!). Remember to insure your ship... and now you'll also want to equip it nicely too. Cap recharger II's at 15m a pop and large armour repairer II's at 12m will hammer your wallet. :p

must stop reading websites. Some website recommended putting 3 in Perception and 2 in Intelligence.

Now I just put my point in more of a general build up. Would it be worth while re rolling to make sure I get these two set to a high level.

Not really that far into so far as I'm only two days into it.

*pats his Dominix fondly*
I spend about 95% of my time flying in one.
Got a brutix now using corp credits I'd earned.. and to be honest, whilst its a good value mining ship, its poor powergrid ruins it for fighting.

Feek is famous, so he got told in a fleet operation yesterday. One guy suddenly popped out with "Feek. You're that famous guy! The Dominix-Master".
Seems whenever anyone asks a question in the alliance channel about setting up a Dominix, everyone points them to him.

If you just started a character and found out you have really poor attributes where you need them, then make a new character and delete the current one, youll save a load of time, High Perception and Intelligence are a must, with high memory a close third willpower 4th, charisma as low as possible.

Depends on what you want to do in EVE really. If you want to do a lot of PVP, then perception is your priority. If you want to be a scientist/industrial character, then memory and intelligence will be your priority. Charisma isn't important at all, unless you do a lot of agent missions, and even then it's not that useful.

hmm I want to do pvp eventually although I rerolled a character and not sure it's even better.

I've now got 9 Int 8 Perception 6 Charisma 10 Willpower Memory 7

Although I did start with Caldari Frigate 4/ Spaceship command 2/ Leadership rank 2 which I never had before.

I guess those figures above will rise wont they If i keep on training. Or are they my default figures forever
