Insulting a whole nation (to name just one thing) is not what I'd class as having manners and class.

One might say it was a bit of comedy and all part of the act but the man isn't a comedian, he is a professional athlete.

I do agree that Silva should have risen above it - he did say that he'd shake his hand after the fight.

Maia didn't even disrespect him though, Anderson just seemed to have it in for him because he was a middle class white guy who made it to the top in jiu jitsu and decided to challenge himself by turning his hand to MMA.

I guess it didn't help that Maia was training with Wanderlei and Shogun (ie the ex Chute-Boxe guys) with whom Anderson has some bad blood, and also Anderson trains with the ex Brazilian Top Team guys so there is that rivalry to take into account also.

I know what you mean but a) don't you find it makes him all the more interesting to watch/listen to? and b) doesn't your blood still boil when you think about the fights where Silva has been a total and complete ****???

For me, come on Sonnen! (just watch for that kick to the mush in the first 10 seconds! ;))
 
I hope Sonnen takes a kicking, mouthy idiot. Yes a couple of Silva's fights have been sub par but Sonnen irritates me all the time. Really looking forward to this one.
 
Really cannot wait for this fight, I actually love both fighters and I think Chael winning would be a big thing for the middleweight division. However I see Anderson winning within the first two rounds. He is going to go for a knockout big time.

I know Chael has a very good chin but I can still see it happening. He struggled a lot with Bisping in his last fight and if Anderson has watched that fight and worked on his TDD then he could be in for a good night.
 
Exactly, fighters like him and Koscheck are great for the sport in my eyes. I appreciate when the fighters are respectful to each other, but sometimes it makes it more interesting when a fighter mixes it up and lays down some smack talk.

The middleweight division feels stale whilst Silva is the champ. Sonnen winning will mix things up a little.
 
It will mix it up in that he is definitely more beatable than Anderson, his record shows that.

But MW is still the least stacked division, needs lots of new exciting fighters to mix it up some more., saying that they did just sign Lombard, will be interesting to see how he handles life in the UFC, i'd love to see him vs Sonnen or Silva.

I don't like him but I do like listening to him and the fights he's in. I don't have to like fighters to enjoy what happens.
Some of his podcasts/interviews/youtube things are amazing, his speach about being an american ganagster was brilliant!
