***The Official Fifa 10 Thread***

I've read some people saying you have to win them in the top 5 Leagues, i.e Spain, England etc and be in the top Division. Only saying in case you went Leeds or something.

To get all the details up I think you need to press the right thumb stick... This will open a new window which allows you to navigate through age, performance, feet, skills, abilities etc.

That doesn't work sadly when a scout offers you a player.

As Leeds he must be forgetting the automatic points deduction that means he didn't really win the league ;)

Just found a monster 19 year old keeper in manager mode. Spanish and his stats are almost better than my 2 year developed Tim Howard. All for about 700k.

Surname Vilanova, consider yourself transfer listed Mr Howard. :D

Been really struggling with this game, after finding Fifa 09 all too easy. Just finished my first season with Valencia and finished 4th on World Class level, but it took a nine match winning streak from the last nine of the season, and this last minute screamer from Pablo Hernandez in the final game of the season to clinch a Champions League spot!

Anyone unearthed any hidden gems yet in manager mode? I need a few cheap players with big potential :D

Found a guy called Rehak, who's a CAM with absolutely everything; big and fast, great dribbling and a reasonable passer.

I'm moving flats tomorrow, back to the land of internet with reasonable speed, so I'll be back in the online game :D

Had great game on a ranked match was losing 2-0 in 10 mins, he just ran though my defence and my keeper came out but kicked it at one of my players and he scored a tap in but came back to win 3-2

Anyone experiencing any crashes in Manager Mode?

It happened in Fifa 09 in my 3rd season and now it's happening in Fifa 10, again in the 3rd season.

Can't continue in the season selecting either sim or play the match.

Great quality control from EA

I've been playing this a lot and I think the manager mode in 09 is much better.

- It's not possible for me to play two consecutive matches with all the same players because the stamina levels just don't recover. I play as Aldershot Town in League Two and I struggled until Christmas because I couldn't bring enough new players in to rotate them each match.
- The whole transfer system is very poor, this is one example: a player transfer listed with two AI teams bid for him. One slightly below his value, one slightly above, and both with similar wages. After several negotiations, I bid slightly over, 50% more, 100% more and 400% more, with his wages high so that he was 85% interested and he still ended up going to one of the other teams. This has happened on many occassions.
- Other transfer problems include players wage demands, being crippled in buying players because of the wage budget even though I have £10m+ to spend as a League One team.
- The players training/stat adjustment was better in 09
- AI teams score a massive % of free kicks from just outside the area. They suddenly seem like Beckham on acid, with rocket shots hitting the the top corner. This is against any team League Two teams!

Having said all that, it's still great fun to play (especially in multiplayer) and there is no better feeling than getting a 90th minute winner :D!

FIFA 10 Pro Tips thread!

Hi all,

I have been playing FIFA 10 online a lot recently, I have it on the PS3 and my online Skill Level is 19/20 and im sitting at around 2700 points. (This might be terrible but I dont think its too bad :p)

I havent quite got used to the FIFA 10 style changing from 09 quite just yet, I still sometimes hopelessly try and run past defenders, ending up getting fouled/disposessed more often than not.

The reason for my making this thread (aside from so we can share tips and whatnot about the game) is because I am quite confused about the tactical system. Some people I play against players move very differently to mine (regardless of the team), they seem to move forward more and get into better spaces, I know pressing L1 or equivalent does this but not to the same degree as ALL of the nearby players being in better positions.

What exactly does changing the playstyle on the D pad to Offensive/Ultra Offensive do? What does it change, the players movement or what? :p

Likewise for the pressing up on the Dpad to get the tactical choices, do they make any real impact, any good ones to select depending on your circumstances?

Any good tactical changes to make/be aware in the team management screen that I may have overlooked?

It just bugs me how a persons players can all be so perfectly positioned to completely destroy my defence sometimes, and im sure im not the only person so I thought OCUK should have a ninja tip sharing thread like this, out of the main FIFA10 thread, focusing more on the online stuff.

I support Manchester Utd and do like to play as them, but against the likes of Barcelona, what most people seem to be using, Im at a huge disadvantage, you can just feel it. Did some games as Chelsea and they are far better, same for Real Madrid. What team do you use often, any teams with decent settings preset or anything?

Anyway feel free to share all advice that may prove useful in our quest for online domination, it is good fun when you play well and win, not when you get walked all over  :p

Cheers :D

arsenal for me are the best team in the game (Toon fan here)

4-4-2

standard back four

rosiksy nasri fab wallcott

v persie arshavin

just run diagonally towards the goal, hold r1 / right bumper and shoot, 9 times out of 10 it will fly in

Hold left bumper and just 1 - 2 your way towards goal, thats a cheap win anyhow :D

Anyone a bit of a beginner and fancy a game (360)? I'm pretty naff but improving slightly but is hard when your getting your ass handed to you on a plate on live :D

Having played around with teams a little, I think Barcelona, setup like this, works quite well (for myself at least) -

4-4-2

Standard Back Four

RM - Iniesta
CM - Xavi
CM - Yaya Toure
LM - Henry

ST - Ibrahimovic
ST - Messi

The standard Barcelona formation doesnt quite work for me, as Messi, being incredibly fast is very good at running through defenses, and on the wing he doesnt always get used to that much effectiveness.

Setup in 442 it seems to work a lot better and it has to be one of the strongest sides around.

Won 9 in a row with it earlier on (ranked online) and then lost to some gimp using Chelsea who got 2 really fast goals near the end due to sheer luck of the ball bouncing :( :p
