***The Official Fifa 10 Thread***

I'm having a horrific time defending against cheap goals as well, it's the bundle the ball foward, ricochet through 3 defenders and chip the goalkeeper.

I can barely keep clean sheets and have had about 10 games so far where I've been beaten by 5 or 6, that didn't happen once last year :/ I haven't just suddenly become a bad player. It doesn't help that I usually choose a 3.5/4 star team and go up against the big boys, but still, the game is so unbalanced there's no chance of me doing what I could do last year and beat players who were barca with a 1 star team.

pretty much my feelings, I really want to like this game, but it's impossible to defend, I'm getting beat 7-2 sometimes and that just didn't happen on 09, I've even gone 5 star against 5 star and still get battered. Rage quits are often this year, bad sportsman ship but this game is really an effort to get fun from

I'm doing ok ranked wise, had won about 45 matches lost about 7, not sure on it now. Unlike 09 you have to have the same starred team to compete unless the opposition is a really bad player.

I'm still loving it tbh, played it every day since release..:o

Always happens to us lot in the club team, balls always take stupid bounces and end up at the other teams feet, defending this year is more about luck than skill. Whilst i hate fifas many flaws it's still better than anything out there and is a really good football game.

finding going any on vp pro is great fun, you get practice for your own VP in defending accomplishments etc as well. FIFA 10 is loads easier than 09 imo and its more a level playing field with the teams as well. Haven't yet come across a super team

I only got this a few days ago as i wasn't looking forward to it that much and i got forza. But damn, The online play is awesome with random generated team and your own pro. I'm really enjoying it with my mates, The goals you can score on this game are truly amazing too.

there is a super team in the game, their midfield is ranked poorly on the stats page, but if you make 4 substitutions, they are unbeatable so long as you know how to play

which team? And what do you mean "as long as you know how to play" you mean play well or exploit the players ala Ronaldo in 09 ?

Only managed to score 3 freekicks ever on 08 and 09.
Score them about 75% of the time from upto 30 yards now. Much easier imo.

For the people who were wondering its just chose a kick taker with the correct foot (Left/ right) for your position - Left footer on the right side, right on the left.

Aim at the near post - just inside (Ie: opporsite to the keeper).

Hold up and shoot with a tiny ammount of power (~20-25% of a bar depending on distance out, upto 30 yards anyway) and it stands a good chance of going in.

The mistake people make is that they seem to do everything right and the ball hits the wall, and then next time try to add more power and it goes over / hits the bar, this is down to the takers FKA stat which adds some randomness to the kick, your more likely to put it where you want and dip over the wall with ronaldo then if you try with Terry for example, who will just smack the wall 9/10.

Who's that then? Villa are my super team ;)

brazil

put dani alves on at left back

pato up front with fabiano, with robhino behind

kaka, diego and ronaldhino in mid

line up - all rated above 80, most high 80's

cesar

maicon, juan, lucio, alves

kaka, diego, ronaldhino

robhino

fabiano and pato

you also have a bench full of superstars

melo, nilmar, ramires, luisao, elano, silva, marcelo, anderson, adriano, etc

Fabiano is a beast on the game, Alves and Maicon at full back are awesome too. I've not played in a few days though, lost patience with it and wasn't enjoying it. Might pick it up in a day or two again.

I'm still enjoying this game - I've started to use my pro on online clubs.

Does anyone else play online clubs? Is it possible to change player positions on there? In team management I can't seem to do anything. Which is a bit annoying as some of the players are not playing in the right positions.

think fabiano is rated an 85, but his speed, ball control, turning and strength are all top notch, coupled with pato's pace and finishing, they are lethal up front.

alves and maicon are probably in the top 5 full backs in the game, essien and evra are the only other two with pace and strength that come to mind that could match them.

lucio is rated really high i think like an 88, along with juan at 84.

diego is an 88 if you play him on either side of mid, but i play him centre mid feeding kaka or ronaldhino, in that position he is only rated an 80, but its a huge understatement, he plays very well there.

ronaldhino is surprisingly strong in the game, i easily hold off anybody with him, plus his passing is one of the best in the game, this is the only reason why i play him over some of the faster players within the brazil squad, because he is extremely slow he makes up for it with his passing abilities.

kaka - no real need to mention why hes played at right mid, pace, ball control and passing are just a few.

robhino just behind the 2 strikers???? yes i know he plays up front for brazil, but hes simply too small and weak against anybody thats decent therefore i play him behind the top 2 so that he always has someone to pass to in case there are defenders in front of him, because its near impossible for him to go past them, if a chance does open up, he has the pace and shooting ability to get into a position to get many goals. if the other player has a weak centre back or gets one sent off, i would normally switch robhino to that position, play fabiano beside him with pato behind, or sub off pato and bring on a midfielder to play in kaka's position whilst kaka plays attackin mid.

fabiano and pato complete the line up, i choose pato over adriano and nilmar because his finishing is better for one on ones which he gets a lot of due to his pace, i would say he is the weakest player within the squad due to his turning being extremely poor at times, but he is rated 84 in this position so no doubt he makes up for it in other areas, fabiano is immense probably overlooked within the fifa world due to him not playing for a big team like, barca or chelsea, once you get used to him, he is banging in goals every match.

thats what i mean by knowing how to play the game, you need to know why pace and strength are essential qualities needed for full backs, its because they provide cover for your centre backs, meaning they need to catch up with a striker if he gets through, or to keep up with and push a pacey winger off the ball like messi. you need to know why passing and pace are essential qualities needed for midfielders, etc. people who are saying this game is much harder, are simply not using the right tactics, through balls and 1-2's work a lot better, so does using width and pace, also chipping is so easy in the game, i think 50% of my goals come from chips.

I've just somehow beaten Man Utd 8-1, bit off a freak result and yet I lose reputation because despite winning I dropped to second in the league. Terrible...
