***The Official Forza Motorsport 3 Thread***

Is it just me, or does the GT-R understeer like a 20-ton truck?

I think I'll stick to my 911 GT2....

I noticed that as well...downloaded the DLC earlier today and had a play with the GTR and its nice but the handling for me was a bit off.

Still decent car but ill stick with my 911 GT3 RS which i have tuned to about 600+bhp:p:D

Same here, GTR handles well untill highspeed breaking into tight corners, but untill that point it doesn't feel like it weighs as much as a small moon.

They are working on another title update (a.k.a Patch) that they are trying to complete before Christmas..

I don't have any sound issues myself, but hope they do fix it, because it does seem to be driving people up the wall!..

I really hope they fix the missing rumble effects on Fanatec wheels.. any recent news on this issue anyway?

Wasnt aware of this?
What missing effects are your refering to?

Yes the rumble effects arnt amazingly strong and wasnt aware we were missing something on the Fanatec compared to the Official wheel.

I get the following below.
All these vary in degree and strength, depending on the wheels settings...

Force Feedback:
  • Wheel Resistance, tightening
  • Wheel Weightless, loosening

Vibration "Rumble" effects:
Some but not all circuit kerbs can be felt.
  • Kerb & bumbs
  • Wheel spin
  • Car sliding wide on corners

ABS Rumble
  • Wheel vibrates at (user set %) of braking e.g. 40%

Drift Mode
3 available settings:
  • Makes the wheel feel loose, easier, faster steering possible

Yeh was messing around with it last night for a few mins and its bloody quick but geez the handling is a bit strange...trying to go around a corner at speed means your backend just flips out...i thought the GTR is a 4wd drive car??..i even tried with all the gubbins activated ie traction control etc etc and it still likes to flip its backend out.

Still a pretty fun car to drive and the cockpit inside is animated.

with Forza 3 and steering wheels, are there any tweaks that can be changed ingame to make it easier to drive using a wheel/pedals?

I find it's very responsive - but then I've always been a padder - and I seem to have a very heavy left braking foot.

Any advice?

I think its the same as previous GT-R's in that it is 4WD but ~75% of the power goes to the rear. :)

That's pretty much what I'm missing. And by missing, as you said, while you could say the effect is there, it's so faint I can't really say it's there. Works fine on PC sims though so it's a Forza specific problem and quite a few people have mentioned it in the Forza forums as well as Thomas' blog. Though it's not like kerb rumble is *essential* for driving cars but you know, it still annoys me that it is missing :)

With regards to braking, people often put half a tennis ball, or even a thick pair of socks under the pedal to give it some extra resistance!

You can adjust the 'range' of the pedal travel in the Controller options (My Profile->Controller->Advanced) , but none will reduce the sensitivity..

You can reduce the braking force (tuning option) on some cars, which can help a lot, but after a while you just get used to the braking, it is weird at first, but I don't find it much of an issue these days..

For the MS Wheel I use a Team Losi 1" 20.0 Rate Purple spring on the brake pedal (LOS A5108) and in the settings you want to set both the pedal ranges to 0%>100%

From a quick test on Suzuka East it seems to heat up the outside edge of the nearside front like its running positive camber and on the first corner the 458 just rocketed through its ghost under braking. The GT-R is quite easily pushed from understeer to oversteer as well.

i think it wants race tires and some weight loss myself

If anyone wants Losi springs let me know, I has loads :D
