***The Official Forza Motorsport 3 Thread***

Does anybody have any advice on R1 setups, specifically for decent ring times? Been working on the Ring for a couple of days now, but best time I've managed has been in the 6 minutes 40, which isnt exactly breathtaking.

Cheers

Grab a accura ARX-02a , unrestrict the engine ,bung some heavy wheels on to pull back to R1 class from X class and drive that sucker as hard as you can.
Dont find you need to do a great dealing of tweaking with the arx-02a as it has insane/epic grip and is very stable to drive compared to many of the other 'twitchy' R1 cars.
Low 6mins laps or better are pretty easy to achieve (i aint that good tbh pb with arx02a 6:03) if you can drive :)
Learn the track and turn off the racing line as it isnt allways the fastest line and lies lots about when you need to actually brake.
Practice in online private races with 7 hard AI cars and rack up the cash/XP while your at it.

What's you tag?
I'll send my set-up for the GT-ONE that i've done a low 5m47 with. (With TC on, i took 1.5s off my old time on the 3rd lap). More to come.

The biggest chunk of time will come from learning the braking points and line choice, and if your using 'racing line', you don't have to slow down for every red part.

Any chance you can send my way too m8 ? struggling with the GT-one at the mo to get anything under 5:59 :/
Tag same as name here :)

It's on my store front, search for OCUK, click on one of the BM's, the replay's there to.

Just set a new time. 5m45.8. 53 on the board now.:D

Anyone got any tips on how to warm up the rear tyres on front engined, front wheel drive cars? I've been experimenting with the ups gained from here, but just can't get the rear tyres warmed up in the Fiesta, Golf MkII and Sirocco etc.

Ouch, reading threads like these makes you realise how slow you are :( My best around the ring is 6:17 in the stock Audi LMP R1 racer (no aids apart from semi auto gears) , how the hell I get another 20+ seconds off that time is anyone's guess :o

The GT-ONE will knock a big chunk off that. Will hit 230/240+ on the straight.

just recently started playing this and got my wheel yesterday :D

so are peeps still racing?
i wouldn't mind doing some just for fun since i'm still a noob :o

Hopefully I'll be back online racing on the weekend, if I ever get round to buying the console. I've been talking about doing it for the last two weeks!

slowly getting the hang of the touring cars even had a decent time in atlanta road just wish i could be more constant rather then 1 good lap out of 10 :D

what kinda classes are you guys racing?

I'm struggling a bit with the wheel.

It's nice to use with the slower cars, gives a greater feeling when on the limit of grip, getting better/smoother lines through the corners, but i keep crashing when in the fast cars.:(
It feels more involving to drive but i can't see myself going quicker.
Do i just need to practice, or are there any settings to help? (haven't changed any wheel settings yet)

hmm i don't know with what kinda assists you play. i'm playing with everything off/manual and the faster cars (im racing with class R2 at the mo) are beasts to handle so be a bit more carefull on the acceleration paddle :D
but saying that on the first day with my wheel i was all over the place, so i think you'll get used to it after a while.

Have you altered the brake settings at all? I just seem to lock-up without ABS. (i'm fine with the pad)

nope i haven't just need to be gentle with it and that's where im not happy with MS wheel wish it had a bit of progression like the G25/27 :(

To be honest the rear tyres on an FF car are just to stop the back end dragging on the tarmac. They don't do much actual work so will take a good five or so laps to get much temperature in them, not that temperature means much in Forza 3. Pressure is more important - aim for a stable 32-33psi after a few laps. Temperature probably won't go above 180, whereas the fronts will be pushing 220+.
