***The Official Forza Motorsport 3 Thread***

Talk about a rip off!!

Yes the UK price is kinda high.
I got mine for £218 with a friend bringing it back from New York
These devices arnt cheap though even for other brands.

Great addition to racing games and action titles you really feel the grenades etc it totally changes the level of interaction with a game. Depends how much you play or watch movies how good the value for money from one would be. When i crank mine, bearing in mind my gaming room is in a loft the wife complains she can hear it in the kitchen, the vibrations are a wee bit strong...

I believe SRT done a video review of it a while back too.

Tim: remind me what email?

Funny you should say that....

I'm off to NYC in 3weeks :D

It does say on the US site that they refuse to ship 240v kits to US addresses... so how does it work?

I purchased mine at the with UK credit card but delivery address to USA. Friend was going over to see relations and brought it back.
Bear in mind though it comes in quite a few boxes, amp, bits and transducer.
You have to leave most of the boxes.

Also the USA model for UK requires a certain FUSE before switching it to UK voltage, dont change the fuse and youll blow it.

If you want more info / help then PM
See Typhoons Renn Sport Cockpit thread @ GT Forums, he just bought one on my recommendation too.

That Porsche 911 Turbo S Wheel -Clubsport edition costs a pretty penny. Theres no way in hell, I am buying the microsoft wheel, I thought this would be a good idea but good God its pricey. You also need to pay an extra 50 euros for the PS3 dongle.

Pushing £450 and thats before you get a whiff of a proper cockpit to house it. Then again that is with the club sport pedals.

Why, o why, that G27 couldnt just be compatible with the 360 :(

£218 all told isn't that bad at all, definitely something to consider for the future, alongside a wheel :)

Latte, you mailed me a werk or 2 ago about a forza/gt site.

The car list so far:

That list is a fraction old I believe, and not as 'official' as you may think (despite being on the FM.NET forums!)

The best place to go is..
http://www.forzacentral.com/forum/showthread.php?t=31595

This shows a more 'definitive' (Ba-dum) list of cars revealed so far..

BadNed, the guy who runs the site is clearly an insider or someone who works very closely with T10, he knows the entire list, but does compile the list when 'proof' is given, it usually just takes a vague low-res picture, and he'll take it as good enough, then puts the exact model year/type up..

I am confident to say, this and his track list are pukka.. And he even drops hints everynow and again, or releases some random photo's..

:)

This is all fantastic but microsoft needs to allow the g25/g27 and other wheels already ! the official wheel is overpriced for what it is.

One of the nice touches to PGR4 i thought was each Speedo/Rev dial was from the car, not a generic one. Was kind of hoping for this in Forza 3, however im sure the in car view makes up for this.

One thing I'm not happy about not seeing yet is on screen telemetry, that was such a help with tune testing on FM2, hope it pops its head up, nothing at all mentioned on the first video above with the opening control layout :(

Yeah, they're using the select button for the rewind but im sure FM2 used the D Pad. It's been a while.

I'd love to tune a car properly but I've never bothered, don't know where to start and there is no help out there really.

Also, aren't we due an update today?

I believe we are, the official forums are down, but a podcast/blog is expected, as is Dreams Vol 2 video..

Here's hoping..

Quite a lot to like watching those videos.

50% More Tunning
Drag Races
Point - Point Races

Love the clean and simple menus, loading times all seem good as well.
My biggest concern for single player is that the game is hard enough, particulary when you start adding upgrades, thats what ruined FM2 for me and a lack of tracks.

I find FM2 very difficult once you get to the R class cars in SP. In fact i've never got so far to finish the game becasue the brakes are just stupid. I normally take all aids off, set AI to medium but I can never touch the leader, or even get close in some cases. I tend to lock up too easily and the brakes don't dig in or scrub off any speed, ABS helps but I just can't find the speed to beat the no1 car, even when driving an identical car. It's at this point I think I need to learn some tuning techniques to get the car set up right but medium difficulty should not command this. I really don't feel comfortable stcking the AI on easy as it might be too easy and ruin the racing. I hope they find the balance this time and it sounds like that's what they have been doing.

I've been fair with my upgrades through the game as not to dumb down the racing. You'll always be able to over upgrade your car but they have said this time, not all upgrades will benefit the car. It might still be over powerful but it won't mean it will get round the fastest or easiest. They also have the ideal upgrades button to match you to the AI for that race which I might use to get though SP if it's any good, then I can concentrate tuning my cars for online fun.

Yeah, it was up on the dpad to enter telemetry, left and right to cycle through (Now a direction on the pad is meant to pop up dift scoring, but could be left/right when out of telemetry) and then down to exit telemetry.

Tuning the cars is a learning experience, if you still play FM2, feel free to send me a car and i'll tune it for you and shoot your an email with the adjustments mae so you can get a physical feel for what affects what, also plenty of tutorials around on the FM2 forums, and the Y button over each part of tuning actually gives a very good overview of what that feature does, give it a play and see :)

Hopefully we cna have variable boost pressure, cam timings etc.. would love for FM3 tuning to make FM2's look like a baby toy! :)

I doubt boost pressure will be available as an in-race toggle but in the tuning that would be added value for sure. Cam timings I'm not so soure, could be a bit too in depth as doing that wrong would cause some real problems in real life, unless they only let you do it within safe thresholds. Lockout bars would be great for the drifters too. Getting that extreme lock is what drifting commands.

Thanks for the offer, I might take you up on it but I just had a dabble now I've realised you can tune mid testing without silly loading screens between and hitting that shiny yellow button gives you a breif insight to the settings.

I've been driving the R3 class #22 Comp Coupe (the blue and yellow viper) and its a handful under accel or braking. Driving with the pad doesn't help with 1.5cm of travel to ease things up but a few small adjustments has turned a 1:30.*** (best of 3 laps) into a 1:29.096 very quickly. I might change the decel diff to encourage more understeer as it does step out a bit bit if I hook it up just right, the decel oversteer does help turn in a bit.

EDIT: Now down to 1:28.709 with a couple more tweaks and the laps are still a bit scruffy. Damn you, I wanna go to bed but racing myself is actually fun. To think I'm a car nut but scared of tuning options in games :D
