***The Official Forza Motorsport 3 Thread***

Some of the times really are frightening :)

They will only get worse and worse as people get into tuning too. We haven't seen but the tip of the iceberg. I'm barely managing 2-4seconds off the top times with my best effort spread over only 5scenarios, then there are over 100tracks with multiple classes to take care of in the full game.

But I am not racing geek that will speed £300 a wheel to play a £40 racing game. You get a pretentious rating of 10/10, just asking if it was decent enough to play the game.

Well thanks for rating me a 10/10 on the pretentious scale...Maybe I shouldn't have spent 300+ on my PC to play a £17 game either...oh but hang on it plays more than 1 game so that'd be ok then...but then so does the wheel.

I answer to your question its got the same function as a pad just in a wheel shape with no real force feedback, see if you can get a used official wheel instead which won't cost you a whole lot more.

To be fair, all that can be stated is that it will work but will obviously be inferior to the range of wheels in the £60 range. It doesn't have proper force feedback, just rumble, which would be a big issue for me. I'd try and save up the extra £30 and get the official microsoft wheel with force feedback.

That's a good point actually. Most people wouldn't blink at spending £300 on a single component to make a game look better, but I think the fanatec wheel will do more to improve a game experience than anything else.

If you have the space (with the stand) to set it up properly (and not need to take it apart every time)

Theory is totally correct though

edit - as someone has deleted the other thread that I just posted this question on....

rather than creating a new thread - anyone seen any good elite packages which include either Shift or Dirt 2? Mainly buying it for Forza 3 but dont want to risk hardware disappearing for a few weeks when Forza is released (im sure it will help sell shed loads of hardware for MS). I know I cant be told where, fair enough - do they even exist though?

Does the elite come with an hdmi cable or not - and are there certain elite's to look out for (old stock /new stock and how to tell?)

Most packages seem to come with a free month online - is everything on Market place bought with points and if so, surely a month is meaningless (as once there you still need points to spend)

From an extras point of view (apart from wheel) - anything else I might need?

Many thanks

It's not region free so unless they have a US console it won't appearing in their lists yet. PAL version probably isn't far behind though.....

Man I wish I could justify buying an xbox for this game! I played the first two quite a lot (the second less so) and think it is easily the beat race series out for the xbox.

Still waiting for GT5 to come out on the Playstation and saving for a G25 wheel. Are there any hacks or talk of support forvthis wheel anytime in the future? It would certainly make an xbox purchase a tiny bit easier... :D

My thought's exactly, I had so many 360's fail because of the dam RROD but I am hoping the developers of GT5 have been holding onto the game for so long because they actualy want to give Forza 3 some competition.

from what i have seen just now on a stream of the full game am not that impressed loads of jaggies and pretty much seems like forza 2 graphics wise

It's a good thing that it's a racing game then, no time to actually look at the damn graphics. ;) No but really, I'm impressed that Turn10 managed to get even that much out of the 360. As a PC gamer it always feels a little weird to play cutting edge games on a machine that consists of parts that were high end about five years ago. I'd love some 8xAA and 16xAF action, but 2xAA will have to do for now I guess.

Now the dilemma is whether to play the game the second I can get my hands on a copy, or in about two months when my wheel arrives. I'd love to play through the career with a wheel and experience all of the cars the way they should be, but two months is a long time and I'm not exactly patient. Buying a used MS wheel doesn't really sound like a fun option either. I guess I'll try to keep myself busy with other games for as long as I can. Which means I'll be playing Forza 3 in about two weeks.

Forza has never been at the forefront of pushing the graphics envelope, not in its two previous iterations and this looks set to follow. That's not to say its not good looking, quite the opposite. At least from what ive seen in all the videos posted.

Also out of interest what is the going rate for a second hand premium nowadays?

Don't know about premium but I was browsing a well known video game store earlier and saw they were doing a 20GB Pre Owned for £120 with a couple of last years games.

You really need to see it in motion.. There are jaggies in all games (It's still got 2xMSAA which isn't too bad), but the sheer detail on the new tracks and the improvement in reflections/lighting are more apparent in motion. That and the sound is amazing..

The Demo, in bumpercam is simply 60fps heaven IMO..
