***** The Official Galaxy Nexus Thread *****

So my phones started acting weird. Twice now (yesterday evening and now), I've head my ringtone go off as if I'm receiving a call, but the screen hasn't changed. There's no "answer" button when I unlock the screen and nothing appears under the caller log. Strange.

Going to change my ringtone now and see if it happens with the new ringtone again.

Running Stock 4.0.2

Edit: actually i did install Google Voice sometime yesterday but found it wouldnt work for me. I wonder if thsts somehow messed things up.

Had mine 3 weeks took it out of my pocket today and it has a nice big crack in the screen.
It's a good phone but not a patch on what the 3GS was at the time that came out. iOS is a far superior os in my book and I can say that from experience. Tho at this time the Samsung gn is a better phone overall than the 4s in terms of spec.

Wow, really? I give no respect to the 3 or 3GS. I give a little to the 4 and 4S...

Your book, your opinion. I doubt many here will agree though. In my book some people are just used to certain things and struggle to adapt.

Like I said I have only had it 3 weeks so time will tell, don't get me wrong it's a great phone and you can do so much more without restriction but I just found the iOS better in terms of ease of use and the apps store is way more supported.

Mate of mine after switching to Desire HD from 3gs and installing sense 3.0 is saying that desire/android is better.
Another mate, bought sgs2 and switched from ip4 . Says android is better.

As many opinions as people :)

But those two often happen like that. Something is easy to use as it can't do so much, so there's less complication.

the apps store is way more supported.

Really? They have about the same number of apps now and most big companies realise how big Android is now and tend to get both apps done.

GN is better than the 4S in terms of spec, how did you work that out? Other than the screen, the 4S is a far better spec.

Yes, it is better at those two things, Android is making strides but it still has quite a way to go yet. If you're in to uniformity and polish, you can't do better than the iPhone (still), as fantastic as Android 4.0 is.

I was never personally a fan of the 3G and 3GS, but the 4 and 4S really raised the bar and the fact the iPhone 4 is still one of the top phones around despite being a year and a half old is testament to this.

Price of the Galaxy nexus seems to be falling at the rainforest. Down to £449 last time I looked.

So wondering if its worth waiting until after MWC incase the price falls even more

Hmm, I seem to get this on any ROM and any radio. I'm on AOKP myself, but it happens. Seems a pretty huge bug to me, surprised more isn't made of it. I don't even know how we can tell if it's reported?

For me, it only happens with WiFi though, if I use mobile data, no problems at all.

Yeah for me wi-fi only too. Have to turn the wi-fi off and on again to get it working properly.

Wonder if it's a router problem? I'm on O2 with the Wireless Box IV.

Anyone know why Swype would be using a fair amount of data?

I downloaded the app using the link in the XDA forum last week. In that time, the data monitor on the phone suggests that Swype has used about 50MB of data. Bit confused as to why it would be using that amount??

Once (like the video) the phones can be connected to the screen wirelessly (and can push a proper monitor resolution), we'll be laughing.

Re Google Wallet security issue
Recently there has been news of security vulnerability of Google Wallet on rooted phones. Google Wallet head of Wallet and payments, Osama Bidier made following comment yesterday which I thought would be of interest as this is a frequent topic on this Board:

"First, Google Wallet is protected by a PIN — as well as the phone’s lock screen, if a user sets that option. But sometimes users choose to disable important security mechanisms in order to gain system-level “root” access to their phone; we strongly discourage doing so if you plan to use Google Wallet because the product is not supported on rooted phones. That’s why in most cases, rooting your phone will cause your Google Wallet data to be automatically wiped from the device.

Second, we also take concrete actions to help protect our users. For example, to address an issue that could have allowed unauthorized use of an existing prepaid card balance if someone recovered a lost phone without a screen lock, tonight we temporarily disabled provisioning of prepaid cards. We took this step as a precaution until we issue a permanent fix soon."

Guess by the time it reaches our shores these bugs will have been worked out.

I'd love to know why it was doing this also, had it installed for a week and was doing the same thing, so i switched back to SlideIT.
