***** The Official Galaxy Nexus Thread *****

I think it's safe to say the Galaxy S II camera is going to be better, but the difference is going to be small (hopefully).

I got 400 mins, 3000 texts, 750 meg data, 18 month contract phone free dispatched on 17th November!

EDIT: 28.50

I would take that I think, though I would prefer less minutes and more data, i wonder what i can get out of tmobile, same company now (don't know if they are 100%merged) will not pay more than 30 with free phone, 18 months

Never done upgrade before, but with tmobile and orange combined signal I'm willing to stay

Just chill out everyone. It will be out soon. Does it really matter waiting a few more days?

im chilled, its just a bit stupid to see an advertisement board then post in this thread saying its tomorrow, you kind of trust people on this forum to to post facts or rather than guess's

No, someone at P4U told Paul O'Brien (Modaco founder) that P4U were getting them today.

That is where it all originated from.

Not a sales ploy - just wandered into phones4u looking for a galaxy note to be treated to a full on Galaxy Nexus display and to be told they are expecting stock tomorrow - yes the 7th :p

There is no way they would set up a massive display with over a week left to release if they aren't expecting it and that is what the manager confirmed to me.

Seems like it'll be a bit of a weird release. I have no idea what's going on with the Galaxy Note for example. I had to go to the Trafford Centre to get 2 Galaxy notes from Phones For You. They had 2 in stock, and it was all they had received and didn't know when they were getting any more in. I'd actually called up the night before as well and reserved the two of them so there was little chance of anyone else actually getting a Galaxy Note from the Trafford Centre other than Carphone Warehouse, whose entire stock of Notes consisted of 3 handsets.

I was actually going to go there at first until they asked me where I was from and upon finding out I was from Liverpool started asking me for Photo ID. When I first spoke to them they said a debit card and proof of address was fine as well, then asked for my post code, then changed their mind on that .

I think it was complete rubbish though, because my girlfriend was initially going to get both of them in her name (she works for vodaphone and can get us both a staff discount on our price plans). When we went to Phones For You, they said because of the type of bank card she has, she can only do one contract in her name with them, so we got her one then went over to CPW to try and get one in her name from them.

They got all the way through the process but the credit check failed because it looked suspicions, two contracts from two different shops in the same name (Phones For You told us it might happen) and while we were in CPW they didn't ask her for any type of identification (she doesn't live in Liverpool), they just took her bank card and that's it, but because it failed, we decided to do it in my name hoping that we'll be able to get the discount anyway (Still should be able to).

As soon as they took my post code they started asking for photo ID. They pretended they had just "forgotten" to ask her for some and claimed that they were supposed to do it for everything (some clarification, my passport is expired, and they wouldn't take it and I haven't applied for a provisional yet). So we just went back over to Phones For You and signed up for it in my name, they didn't ask for any ID and just took my debit card and details and were saying they didn't get why CPW wanted photo ID.

It was much better that we got them from Phones For You anyway as both Notes came with the flip cover things for free whereas the CPW ones didn't, and the customer service from the Phones For You there was extremely high, really nice staff. The people in CPW looked incredibly miserable and the girl who was serving us initially spoke in a whisper, so we could barely hear her. :P

We checked around a few stores, there were a total of 5 Notes available in the Trafford Centre, 2 of which we bought, the network shops didn't have any and there wasn't any advertisements or anything else about them in any of the stores. I chose the Trafford Centre because I rang around quite a few local CPW and Phones For You shops asking about them and they either had no idea what they were, or had no idea when they were coming in other than "At least a week". It was very much a case of you'd only know they had it if you went and asked them about it.

There was a guy in my local P4U who thought he knew it all and was infuriating to talk to. Absolute ******.

He was telling someone that the Nokia N8 is "by far the best phone for web browsing" when there is a Galaxy S II/iPhone 4/Sensation alongside it...

Also, ages ago when I asked about the Desire HD he was telling me the iPhone 3GS "wipes the floor with it for web browsing". I tried to educate him but he didn't listen. Stupid git.

At least in CPW the girl actually shut up and let me tell her what I wanted, and then said "Wow, you should have my job" I mean what a thing to say... :o

Why are you discussing phone features with staff anyway?

My conversation today at P4U was,

ME: hi do you have the samsung galaxy nexus in stock?
GUY: no, but we do have some great phones such as the htc sensation
ME: nope sorry, i'm after that phone in particular, do you know when you expect to get stock?
GUY: we are expecting it some time next week, but can't be specific.
ME: Cheers

*walk out*

Me? I'm not discussing features with staff?

It went like this -

Me: Hi, do you have the Desire HD in stock?
Retard: No, why do you want one anyway, the iPhone 3GS is better in every possible way.
Me: Erm, no it isn't? I want the Desire HD.
Retard: What for?!!

And so on.

I see what you mean, but I do my best to avoid getting drawn into conversations with staff at any shop. In your situation I'd just lie and say I don't like the small screen, no possible comeback.

edit:

in fact i probably would have hated the low resolution and 4:3 screen

thanks for quoting me and correcting my grammar, really helpful, then to follow it up with a boring story about credit checks and galaxy notes... wow amazing story bro...

don't forget the capital V for for Vodafone mate, you gotta stick to those high standards daddy set...

also does not surprise me that you don't have a passport coming from Liverpool, you don't need them for holidays in Blackpool :D

I spoke to the boss at the p4u i went to and he seemed like he kinda knew what he was talking about sadly I was told the phone wont be in for a week or 2. However I got some nice hands on time with the nokia 800 and its actual a nice phone, I can see why people do like windows phone however all the black space just made it some what boring and the live tile home screen wasnt exactly that great.

Exactly, they get all flustered and it makes the shopping experience more enjoyable. :D

it frustrates me that they have no idea what they are selling, PC world is equally frustrating on the rare times i go in. I cringe when hear the stuff that flies out of those smarmy mouths.

yeah hearing good things about the nokia, brave move of them setting a stall for purely windows, but this one looks nice, i dunno if i would switch over but i kinda like what i have seen...
