yeah hearing good things about the nokia, brave move of them setting a stall for purely windows, but this one looks nice, i dunno if i would switch over but i kinda like what i have seen...

Yeah, its very nice, I really under rated windows phone. It needs some work still but it has most of the improtant apps I need, the interface is smooth, phone is very fast. Only things I dont like is that now most phones are hitting much higher res screens and I dont see a windows phone that will offer anything close to 720p for a good while. Not sure if theres any good games, and theres quiet a few games coming out that offer excellent graphics but require dual cores.

But all in all its a really nice phone but personally after i get my hands on the GN not sure if ill want anything else.

Windows Phone is excellent, it will really take off with Windows 8 and the W8 tablets.

Nokia make seriously lush (and I mean lush) hardware.

Still, I don't think it will convert Android users over because it works on the same principle as the iPhone. Walled garden and nothing too 'fancy'.

yeah i'm not sure what market they are aiming at really, if we get new work phones i will be trying to get a windows phone just to see how they run.

The phone looks lovely and the colors are just :DDD, but yeah its not really the 'fancy' part that really attracts me to android its just the option to do what I want.

Yes they will but some will be a little later than the 17th. It's now just a matter of waiting.

Hi, Long time Lurker and First time poster. Anyway, for those worried about size and Comparisions www.phone-size.com is a good starting point.

KYI

(Anxiously waiting for a Galaxy Nexus)
Handy website that. :)

Just found out that Orange give 10% discount OR a magic number at every renewal. Thats quite good.
Only problem now is that it'd A) still be more than VF because of my discount & B) They dont do the Nexus. :(

Can't wait for this phone to be released.

Is it definitely not coming out on Orange directly at launch? Has this been confirmed by them?

Going to be switching from O2 to Orange because of various things such as orange wednesdays, swapables etc. But if it's not going to be available direct, I'm a bit cautious about going through Carphone or Phones4U etc to get my contract as I have only ever got my contracts direct! What are these places like for mobile phone contracts?

Cheers for the info :)

There is nothing wrong with using them to start a contract or renew one but don't listen to anything they say as they generally have no clue what they are talking about. They will also sign you up to insurance without any choice - just cancel it when you leave.

The advantages do generally seem to be that they get new phones in before
network stores which is a shame.

I had o2 add insurance to my last renewal! I cancelled it straight away but they still charged me for it! Wasn't best pleased about having to phone up and sort it out

Cheers for that. Going to wait to see what offers Carphone have on Orange and then will decide between the two, unless Orange miraculously get it direct.

So I have wanted both these devices and I have figured out a way to do it.

I pre-ordered a Nexus from gummobile (who are very good) - I am going to cancel that order and swap it to a Note so I can get the Note delivered to me Thursday - assuming they respond promptly but I have seen that to be the case so no reason it would change. I intend on getting the Note from them as they have it in stock with next day delivery.

My next option was to wait until my O2 contract is due an upgrade on 17th November when the Nexus is out or to sell my Evo 3D and Galaxy Tab 10.1 I/O Limited Edition to fund the Nexus and have a bit left over hopefully - so I decided to do just that - I have put those up on one day auctions starting tomorrow afternoon.

If all goes according to plan on Thursday I will have the Note and I will have re ordered my Nexus with the funds from the stuff I sold.

I am then still due an upgrade in a week and a half so I may get another Nexus or Note and sell it (or keep it just so I can android beam back to myself) - we will see when it comes time to upgrade where I stand. Clearly if for any reason the Nexus is delayed SIM free I'd upgrade and keep the money.

And that solves my dilemma that no one cares about here! (and before anyone asks why don't I just order a Note with the money from selling my other devices - well the answer is that doing it that way would stop me having a Note until Friday and I want it Thursday - it is down to simple impatience!).

single bad experience doesnt mean that everyone will have it same...

I was asked for insurance and said no. simple as that.
