**** The Official Google Pixel 2/Pixel 2 XL Thread ****

I assume you do not agree with Google that the blue tint "issue" is in fact "normal" for the phone. Many people who have commented here seem to think that in day-to-day use it is barely noticeable.

From what I have read in reviews, the Pixel 2’s OLED display scored a color temperature of 6969 Kelvin, with the Pixel 2 XL achieving an even cooler score of 7035 Kelvin. This means both displays have a slight blue tint, though they’re warmer than last year’s Pixel XL.

But if it is a continuing issue to you I fully understand.

To me the pure Android experience, the idea that I will be getting the first of any new software updates from Google, the camera, Google Lens, and whatever AI and AR improvements Google brings to market will come first to the Pixels, outweighs what I fully expect to be barely noticeable over time.

Blue tint and blue shift are 2 different things.

On the XL2 the blue shift occurs far quickly at much shallower angles compared to decent OLED's.

And second I hope that in natural mode that they have calibrated the white point to the D65 standard which is ideal.

Had my Pixel for two days now.

My screen is completely fine, almost cancelled my order but glad I didn't!

Guess I got a good one, blue shift is their but not a problem.

Great phone and great battery life.

Blue shift doesn't bother me either. I don't tend to look my phone at an angle.

Re the fingerprint...my Tesco banking app accepts my fingerprint and then i still have to put in my passcode. Is that not right?

That sounds odd. Uninstall app and re download and install it.

Anyone else notice the introduction of Google Lens into Photos on their Pixel phones? It is apparently in preview mode. According to 9 to 5 Google, this is expected to be extended soon to Google Assistant, incorporating it into the sheet that pops up when Assistant is launched. Look out for the update.

Currently it is a feature in Photos, so I can trigger Lens when I look at a photo or image. It is the third icon at the bottom of the screen and if it knows the image or scene it identifies it with information.

Cool.

Still ok this morning. It must be more of a software problem rather than hardware.
I'm toying with trying the 8.1 beta to see if that sorts things

Yea mine is too, it may have been an update to some google apps/services that caused it.

I have this on my P2. Thanks for pointing it out as I didn't notice it.
