**** The Official Google Pixel 2/Pixel 2 XL Thread ****

Those specs were what we were all expecting, but my original comment still holds. That is NOT a £950 phone (if that's what it is).

When oneplus can make a phone with almost the same specs for less than half the price. Does inc an oled screen and better cameras really make up the extra?

I'm pleased to see the word camera(s), god help them if they both don't have ois. I mean IF, IF google charge £950 they damn well better be the best camera phones on the planet.

Let's just say that if the oneplus 5 had ois I'd have already bought one. The camera blur is what put me off this time (sent my op3 back because of it)...and the screen upside down fiasco.
My one pLus 5 is stable and doesnt have blur on the images it takes

Going by those specs the XL could be worth the upgrade depending on price, but the Pixel 2 isn't much of an upgrade at all, and if like me you use headphones instead of speakers then it could feel like a downgrade.

People who don't own a Pixel then fair enough, but I can't see that it's making sense to go from Pixel to Pixel 2.

BTW...
OP5 has an OLED screen, and the OP3 has OIS.

I'm not expecting anything, only going by a few comments in this thread along with a few rumour sites. I really hope it will be a lot less.

Okay, that's very unlikely though, isn't it, such a huge increase. You're basically having a go at Google and demanding things on something that someone has said that is almost certainly not going to happen.

I think
Yous seriously think this looks like an iPhone?

Are you being serious?
the pixel looks like the iPhone 6/7 yeah. Pixel 2 is just squarer. Not sure why they go for the two Tone on the back it looks like someone forget to take the wrapping off.

I'm not sure what you are expecting from the design to be honest, it just sounds like you want to compare everything unfavourably to the iPhone. I like the Pixel's two tone back, it makes it look at least a little different to other phones.

Aside they both look like phones, I really don't think they look alike...

Look at the both from the back, how on earth can you say they are similar? Even from the front, they're screens with two large bezels top and bottom. That covers about 80% of phones...

biggest thing I took from that video is that I need to buy a 42" TV for my switch lol

A few takeaways for me:
1. Google wants to position the Pixel squarely at Apple and if there is an "Ultra", it means that they are not prepared to cede the high end premium space to Apple.
2. The dual camera and bezel-less screen would be reserved for this Ultra.
3. A new approach to the fingerprint scanner is always welcome.

Bring on 4 October!
