**** The Official Google Pixel 2/Pixel 2 XL Thread ****

Screen protectors are definitely useful, I've lost count of the amount of times that my wife has dropped her phone and just needed to replace the tempered glass as opposed to the screen itself getting damaged.
Common misconception though as the screen might have been fine anyway even if the drop was enough to crack the crap screen protector

It just adds better energy dissipation. Like a crumple zone on a car. Note sure if makes a huge amount of difference, but for a fiver, worth the risk?

Aye, it might help if the drop is directly on the screen I guess. And I have put protectors on before when they fit perfectly and don't detract from the phone but for the 2 XL I don't think it's worth it. Always a personal decision though.

I use my Pixel a lot for its Google Assistant. I also use Google Assistant with my Pixel Buds and of course it is built-in to my Google Home devices.

Google set up a new page where you can find everything its AI Assistant is capable. There are over 1 million things to try according to Google, but to make things easy the list is broken down into categories like “Home control,” “Games & fun,” and “Productivity.” The main page also points to new and trending skills, along with a search bar in case you still can’t find what you’re looking for.

Hope you have fun exploring it.

Don't know but looking at his post history he appears to be some form of strange Google shill posting in corporate tongues.

I mean virtually his entire post history is to do with Google products.

It certainly has got weird. It's the exact corporate style wording that Google would be expected to use, but oddly it's not corporate, it's just some public member who creates mini adverts for Google. The posts don't add much any more as they are so biased I can't take the posts with any value. I guess this is a Google version of the isheep. It's pretty gross.

It is very strange. I have a feeling he does this across a number of forums, and has google bedsheets.

Back to the phone. Having had the phone for over two weeks and trying to hammer it daily I am getting around 20% battery before it goes back on charge at night with the normal P2. Very happy with that. It charges quickly also in the morning which was a relief earlier today as I forgot to charge it last night whilst researching a mining rig.

I agree that the battery has been an excellent feature of the Pixel 2 but it looks like future Pixels will only get better, esp if Google is able to take advantage of the haptic technology developed by a small UK company it recently acquired which might free up space for batteries or other components in the Pixel currently used for small speakers.

And from The Inquirer: "
... if Google (and bosom chum HTC) can use the Redux technology to make, say, an AMOLED screen into a speaker, then that leaves more room for, maybe more memory… or… a bigger battery?

Google absorbed Redux shares in December and as far as we can tell, the deal was actually done as far back as last August, still way too late for the Pixel 2, but certainly opens up possibilities for the Pixel 3 and beyond."

What sort of SOT are you guys getting with the XL version?

Returning my Note 8 due to lacklustre battery life so looking for something hefty there. Tis a toss up between this and the Mate 10 Pro at the mo.

In the region of 6-6.5 hours for me. I watch quite a lot of YouTube so to me that figure is pretty impressive.

The Note 8 had average battery life when I used it for a few days, seems to be a common theme about it's battery though. The Mate 10 Pro has really good battery life.

5-6hrs seems to be the average :) Haven't had the need to charge it before the end of day yet.
