**** The Official Google Pixel 2/Pixel 2 XL Thread ****

Well I've finally come to the decision that the Pixel 2 XL will be my next phone; the recent price drops and some helpful staff discount has been part of the persuasion.. The Nexus 6 is now going into retirement since the security updates have stopped and I'm using that as a (justifiable?) excuse to upgrade.

I'm scared of the potential screen issues, but I'm sure coming from a 3 year old phone I'll still be impressed. Off to start search for a case, and from searching this thread it appears glass screen protectors are now frowned upon? My 2 Nexus 6's have perfect screens thanks to years behind tempered glass :/

The problem is the curves. A lot of protectors only stick around the edges. And full face adhesive doesn't always adhere correctly because of slight manufacturing differences and the adhesive not being able to compensate.
There are two I've found that use LOCA as the glue which will flow to fill the gaps as required before being cured by UV light. The Whitestone dome was the first, is more case friendly and available on Amazon. The SG Freshidea InvisShield covers more of the glass, but has to be ordered from Singapore.

Wireless is the future, but not enough for Google to put wireless charging in this thing though :p

Have a load of useless Qi charging pads and stands now.

A faulty product is pushing you towards something you wouldn't have otherwise done right now. Your choice at the end of the day though. Wireless may be the future but dongles work normally. It's only been a big issue with the Pixel 2

sorry i was not clear, mine was not faulty i just gave up using it, as i would often flip between headphones and end up forgetting the dongle and not keen on how it stuck out / could not charge. i would never go back to wired headphones now anyway.

Google did wireless charging in 2012, it did not really take off then, its just a fad :)

Jimlad's trying hard to be the next sesevans. :p

Wireless charging is great, I miss it.

he got me a job, just saying google did it before, it was nice but not a must have. with quick charging and battery times i am good every morning to charge my xl2 for 45 mins and get a full day.

Due to send the phone back for a repair soon, but I don't think I'll sell it. The camera is just too good. I think on the whole, it takes better pictures than my RX100.

Still blow away by the results 3 months after I got the phone.

Pixel 2 camera is excellent but I wouldn't say it's close to the RX100 personally.

Not when you take into account manual controls, but as a point and shoot device, I get better shots on the Pixel 2 XL more often than the RX100, to the point where I don't really use my RX100 unless I know I'm going to need the extra zoom.

My new replacement adapter from Google arrived with a loose connection urghhhh. I hate not having a 3.5mm port :(

Anyone recommend a good portable Bluetooth dac for my shure 315s?

Picked up my XL 2 yesterday, loving the whole experience, reminds me of why I loved my Nexus 5x a few years back then moved to Samsung but only for 8 months now back to Google with stock android...

What is the screen like & build date?

I bought the 'panda' version on the 13 Feb & my build date is December 07, 2017.

I have blue tint but other than that is fine.

Really nice device.

How do I check the build date?

I'm not a pixel peeper so screens fine for me :)

Anyone having issues with not getting notifications sounds on their pixel 2 xl? I've disabled battery optimization for certain apps and also made sure they are set to make a sound on notification but nothing.
