Thanks. I will persist. Mines so bad I actively avoid using the internal speakers whenever possible.
Update - still on the excuse train...
Google says :
1) we can't give you an RMA because every phone has this problem (nonsense - as evidenced by my friend's pixel 2 xl)
2) we are working on a software fix but we can't tell you when it will be released and we don't know if it will come to Android P (just hopelessly vague)
3) the speakers are tuned for different uses and reducing the volume will fix this issue (I'm doing it wrong?)
I've had every Google phone since the Nexus One. Sent back a Nexus 5 and 6P for issues and got replacements next day. However, for some reason when you pay £750 for a phone it looks like you also buy Google's right to wash their hands of any issues it has. How ridiculous.
Yes same here but I'm on the beta P which might be the reason?
Not quite the same but I have a bluetooth speaker and have to turn off HD audio or it keeps cutting out, and it never re-pairs automatically when I turn the speaker on (my old Samsung S7 did). However my headphones work fine.
I'm not convinced the Pixel 2's bluetooth implementation is particularly brilliant, if I'm honest.
Right changed that, will see how stable it is over the coming weekManaged to sort the problem when it's paired to my TT - within Developer Options I changed the Bluetooth AVRCP Version to 1.6 - no problems at all since.
Can anyone recommend a good screen protector? Seeing mixed reviews online.
The pixel 2 XL has impressed me since moving over from iPhone.
I dropped it from head hight completely naked and all the damaged was a few paint chips and a little scratch on the screen.
Not with £0 upfront cost I wouldn't have thought. Is there anyway to get this phone on EE with a £25-£30 tarrif and not have to pay upfront costs?
Crazy, I got mine replaced by Google because of the audio distortion. A thread on Reddit suggested applying pressure to the speakers fixes them.
Did you buy it via Google or cpwStill on the excuse train. I sent them examples of posts on forums of people who got replacements for the same issue (including yours - hope you don't mind) and they replied back and said:
"we review devices on a case by case basis" - so given that my phone has this issue and others have had it too, why am I being discriminated against?
and
"you're running Android P Beta so we can't help" - I understand the whole thing about Beta software in general, but I'm fairly sure Google's site doesn't say anything about your warranty being void if you install the Beta via OTA (as I did)
Just genuinely amazed at how awful their customer service is so far. It's clear that they've changed in the last year or two and just outsourced everything to some call centre far far away and given staff no power or interest to solve issues. There are complaints all over the web from people getting the same treatment. I think this will be my last Google phone, which is a shame since I've been buying them happily since the Nexus One.
