**** The Official Google Pixel 2/Pixel 2 XL Thread ****

Now is a bad time to look at a Pixel/Pixel 2, correct? Looking at upgrades for my old Smart Ultra 6, but would like something with a nice camera which both seem to have; just can't justify the £600+ outlay when the 3 (which I won't buy) will drop in October.

Wait for the 3 to come out and you'll get a Pixel 2 with a big reduction from CPW.

My p2xl had an encounter with my GF's boot earlier today. Long story short, she closed the door on the phone and screen is smashed. So far seems to be just the glass damaged as it's still working fine. Calls are a bit off though so thinking speakers are damaged too.

Any tips on getting this repaired? DIY or use one of those repair shops.

Do you have mobile phone insurance with your bank?

My earpiece has started rattling on higher volumes.... :(

Bought in November, do you think Google will replace it?

To reply to my own question.... Yes!

After an initial live chat and a bit of back and forth via email trying various 'troubleshooting' I've been cleared to have my device replaced.

Stunned by this. My speakers have done the same thing since I got the phone in November and I've been completely stonewalled by Google. Even when I ask them why other people have received RMAs for the same issue they won't give me one.

Hope yours gets sorted anyway.

Wow this doesn't sound promising regarding device issue and Google support

I have a used like new 128gb Pixel 2 XL coming tomorrow which I got for a good price. Wondering now if it's going to be a bit of a gamble if Google aren't going to help with any issue.

Well my replacement will be here tomorrow with any luck, I'll keep you posted.

Was yours bought new from Google directly? Did you need to send google proof of purchase? It seems hit and miss as to whether the above is required and whether Google are bothered about it.

Hope you get your replacement sorted!

So an update on my speaker issue - I bumped into a fantastic Reddit user who happens to know someone in Google's support team. This Reddit user has set up their own unofficial ticketing system for people who've got nowhere with Google's official support. A few emails later and Google's agreed to RMA my phone. Hooray!

I'm just not sure why it was so hard in the first place, but at least it shows that someone at Google is listening!

Finally.

Got my Pixel 2 XL today and love it! It's a Jan 18 build and appears to be far better than the one I tested a few months ago. No blue tinge, no grainy display, and a pretty consistent panel overall on this one. Completely the opposite of one I returned earlier this year.
