**** The Official Google Pixel 2/Pixel 2 XL Thread ****

My earpiece has started rattling on higher volumes.... :(

Bought in November, do you think Google will replace it?

Not if my experience is anything to go by. I've been trying for around a month trying to get a repair or a return for speaker distortion and they couldn't care less.

Well I can now add not charging to the list of problems above. Plugged in all night only to find it virtually flat this morning. Charger was definitely connected and turned on as I unplugged it and plugged it back in and it started charging.

Good job all the new laptops at work come with usb c chargers now...

I've not had any charging problems for a long time, at the beginning I did. Tbf my partner's iPhone X sometimes doesn't charge on wireless.

I had the same problem with my s7 edge occasionally. I think wireless charging is a nice idea but isn't always as good as you would hope. I had to send a genuine Samsung charger back as you had to have the phone precisely placed to charge at all and even then it would just stop when it felt like it. Bizarrely some cheapo charging cradle worked far better.

This has happened on occasions before but its rare so I'll forgive it this time!

So my phone got wet on Tuesday. Was in a dry bag while I was on a inflatable. The dry bag failed and let some water in. Phone turned off for 24 hours. Just tried it now and it came back with completely dead battery and red led flashing. Charged for 5 hours and seems fine . I am considering rma it though. What would you do ?

And so much for water resistant

i think you might have a hard time proving the waterproofing failed. the ip rating means it can only be wet for 30 mins, any longer and its not covered.

"Protected from immersion in water with a depth of up to 1 meter (or 3.3 feet) for up to 30 mins"

If they open it and find that the water damage stickers are marked, then there's no way that you'll get a replacement. That's what I'd expect them to do in this case.

I don't think it has water stickers seeing as it is meant to be water proof (with in restrictions) it was never submerged and was barely wet. Just dump as dry bag let some water press through.

Anyway that's not my point. It's more if I should return or keep using it as it works fine now. Happened on Tuesday.

Its got a tiny sticker in the sim tray that turns pink if it's come into contact with water. I fell out of a kayak about a month ago and had a similar experience with my phone, checked the sticker and it's turned pink :( Phone was having some weird issues charging for a couple of days but touch wood it's been ok since.

My p2xl had an encounter with my GF's boot earlier today. Long story short, she closed the door on the phone and screen is smashed. So far seems to be just the glass damaged as it's still working fine. Calls are a bit off though so thinking speakers are damaged too.

Any tips on getting this repaired? DIY or use one of those repair shops.

But I don't see how they could question if it's come in contact with water. If indeed it has some level of water resistant.

Sorry to hear pal. First off I would call Google to see what they advise or quote for a repair then take it from there .

Tear down guide below , parts on eBay and other mobile repair sites. Or take to a shop I guess and get a quote.

I've done some Googling but not quite getting the answer, so hoping you guys might know:

I've got a Pixel 2 XL and the wife has a Pixel XL. I've taken 4GB of photos and video on holiday recently and organised them into an album. I've then shared the album with my wife. Although the data takes up zero space for me as expected, her shared album appears to be taking up space from get 15GB Drive allowance.

How can I avoid this? Surely hers should take up no space; if I had uploaded all the photos from my PC to her photos library it wouldn't take up space, but that seems a bit cumbersome?

Hi,

Having issues with bluetooth on my pixel 2 xl.

It's paired to a number of devices but I'd say 2/3rds of the time it fails to auto connect. Examples would be Bose QC 35 and my Ford Sony headunit.

Turning bluetooth on and off again (on the phone) seems to be the solution but it's annoying particularly when driving to realise that it hasn't connected.

I've searched the thread and I don't seem to be alone in this issue but I couldn't spot any solutions so just wanted to check if one had been identified? Apologies if I've missed it on the search.

Edit: bouncing bluetooth on the phone also resets the Bluetooth tethering setting so my Tom Tom can't get traffic info which is a pain.

Out of nowhere I've managed to lightly scratch the camera. How much can it affect the image quality. Never managed to scratch a lens before. Maybe paranoia setting in that images won't be the same sharpness or quality as before.

Yup, shops are quoting £250 which is crazy money.
I'll either do it myself with the parts costing ~£130 or sell the phone with a damaged screen

Now is a bad time to look at a Pixel/Pixel 2, correct? Looking at upgrades for my old Smart Ultra 6, but would like something with a nice camera which both seem to have; just can't justify the £600+ outlay when the 3 (which I won't buy) will drop in October.

Correct. Unless you can get one on the cheap I would wait.
